Here’s yet another print from artist Tim Clinard and this one is for David Fincher’s Alien 3. The artist has this great style that captures the vintage look of the old school 80s comic book art.
We previously shared two other pieces for Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens. All prints are currently available for purchase at Hero Complex Gallery for $40. This one is a limited edition of 125.
Alien 3 begins with a devastating turn of events as Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) crash-lands on Fiorina 161, a remote, all-male penal colony, after an escape pod malfunction. Tragically, the crash kills her surviving companions from Aliens, Newt and Hicks, which was the worst idea ever.
The story follows Ripley as she discovers that an alien has also survived the crash, unleashing terror on the prisoners and staff of the colony. Adding to the grim stakes, Ripley learns she is carrying a queen alien embryo inside her, forcing her to confront her inevitable sacrifice to save humanity.
As you know, the reception to Alien 3 was divisive. Fans of the franchise were polarized by the film’s decision to kill off beloved characters from Aliens and its slower, more meditative tone. Many felt it betrayed the heroic and hopeful elements established in Cameron’s film.
Behind the scenes, the production was plagued by creative issues, constant rewrites, and studio interference, leaving Fincher with little control over the final product.
Fincher has disavowed the film, citing the chaotic production process and the studio’s refusal to let him realize his vision.
