Ella Purnell has found a lot of success with the video game adaptations that she’s been a part of, which include Fallout and Arcane.
While both of these shows are great and Purnell delivers impressive performances in them, she’s not quite sure it’s a good thing because she doesn’t want to be typecast as “the video game girl.”
While speaking to fans at MCM x EGX 2024, Purnell talked about her place in video game pop-culture, and said:
“Here’s the truth, and I feel guilty saying this, but I’m not a gamer, and I don’t know how I’ve managed to land two video game adaptations that have both been good. I don’t know how that’s happened, but it has. I don’t know the answer.”
Now, Purnell does love the roles she plays in Arcane and Fallout, but there’s a fear that lingers that it might lead to a pattern.
“I actually think I need to stay away from video game adaptations now, because I’m going to get typecast. I’m going to be the video game girl. There are worse things to be than that, I suppose.”
Purnell is a talented and versatile actress, and I don’t think she needs to worry about being typecast as video game girl.
She’s also appeared in projects like Yellowjackets, Invincible, and she is set to star in the upcoming film Sweetpea, where she plays a serial killer.
