Kristin Cavallari Recalls Intruder In Her Home During Pandemic

Kristin Cavallari is opening up about one of the scariest experiences of her life and why her children don’t know about it.

The “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” star addressed the terrifying incident on her podcast, revealing that a man had broken into her room while on vacation.

The invasion happened while she was asleep with her son in the same bed. Fortunately, Kristen Cavallari and her family escaped the incident unharmed; however, it became a memory she could not share with her children.

During a recent episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast, Cavallari recalled getting robbed while vacationing in the Bahamas in 2020. She enjoyed the family trip with her then-husband Jay Cutler and their three children — sons Camden and Jaxon and daughter Saylor.

Cavallari noted they stayed there for a month amid the pandemic restrictions. They were having a great time until their home’s HVAC unit broke, and they had to call workers to fix it. Unfortunately, this was the start of a terrifying ordeal, with the podcaster saying:

“That night, I had [my son] Cam in the bed with me. Cam and I were sleeping. And I woke up to a man crawling on my bedroom floor.”

“I was so out of it because, obviously, I had just woken up. And I go, ‘What the f-ck are you doing?’ And this man stands up, runs out the door, and, you guys, he had a ski mask on, full black arms, black pants, the full thing. And I went ‘oh, f-ck,'” Cavallari recalled, per PEOPLE.

Despite being shocked and scared by the intruder, Cavallari refused to scream for help. She noted her “instincts” kicked in because her son was by her side, and she chose not to wake him. Instead, she alerted her then-husband about the situation, recalling:

“Once I woke Jay up, then I got really nervous. Then I start [to get] like, really scared. I started shaking, and I was able to process then what just happened. But until that point, I was not scared. I was really calm. You just are running off of instinct.”

Cavallari stressed that her children still don’t know what happened because she feared it would traumatize them. “I will not tell them, probably, until they’re adults. Because I just think some things kids do not need to know. And scary stuff like that, I will take that one,” she explained.

Cavallari dubbed the ordeal “one of the scariest things” she had ever experienced but noted she was happy to live with the memory instead of her children. Fortunately, her story had a happy ending, with the culprit caught.

“Long story short, he took all of the cash that we had in a backpack. We ended up getting it back. We found out who it was. It was the HVAC guy,” the TV personality revealed. Her recollection comes a month after she addressed her dating preferences on her podcast.

The Blast reported that Cavallari revealed she was not interested in having kids with her future boyfriend. “You wanna know what else is a deal breaker for me? I want someone who’s had a vasectomy. I don’t have to worry about any of that sh-t,” she confessed.

Besides a man with a vasectomy, Cavallari revealed she was open to dating men with children. “Ideally, his kids would be a little bit older, so I don’t really have to deal with the day-to-day. Because I was like, I can’t have a Brady Bunch,” she claimed.

The entertainer reiterated that she did not need much from her next relationship, stressing that she had achieved financial independence and enjoyed the blessings of motherhood. “I don’t need a man for anything but happiness,” she declared.

Cavallari’s last relationship was with her ex-boyfriend, Mark Estes. She briefly mentioned their breakup during her “Unwell” Tour stop in Austin, Texas, on September 28 before addressing the situation in an October 1 episode of her podcast.

During the podcast episode, Cavallari declared that Estes was “the best boyfriend” she had ever had. Despite his achieving this status, being younger than her was something they could not overcome as a couple.

“I broke up with Mark because I just know long term it’s not right.It’s not because of love lost or something bad happened; no one cheated, no one was mean. No one did anything. Those breakups are always the hardest, I think,” Cavallari explained, adding:

“I just know long term he needs to experience life. He’s young. I mean, he is. I started to feel the age a little bit just with life experience. I look back on when I was 24 and how much life has happened for me between then.”
