Karen Huger, the standout star of The Real Housewives of Potomac, is facing serious legal consequences after being found guilty on nearly all counts of a DUI charge following a March incident in Maryland. While Huger has expressed disappointment in the jury’s verdict, she and her legal team respect the decision and plan to continue pursuing justice. As her sentencing date approaches, fans and the public are eager to know what comes next for the reality TV star.

The Charges Against Karen Huger

Karen Huger, 61, was charged with a series of offenses stemming from an incident on March 19, which included DUI (driving under the influence), DWI (driving while impaired), and reckless driving. Additional charges included:

Negligent Driving: Driving a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, endangering property, life, and persons.

Reckless Driving: Operating the vehicle in willful disregard for the safety of others.

Failure to Control Vehicle Speed: To avoid a collision on the highway.

Excessive Speed: Driving above reasonable and prudent speeds.

Suspended Registration: Driving a vehicle with suspended registration.

Failure to Notify Administration of Change of Address: Not informing authorities of her new address within the required time frame.

After a trial, Karen Huger was found guilty of all charges except for reckless driving, which was dismissed. She is scheduled for sentencing on January 29.

A Controversial Courtroom Drama

The courtroom proceedings were intense, with multiple witnesses providing testimony. One witness claimed that Huger’s car smelled strongly of alcohol, while an EMT who responded to the scene said Karen Huger was “swaying” when attempting to enter the ambulance. In what might have been an attempt to deflect from the seriousness of the situation, Huger allegedly used foul language toward the EMT, telling them to “f— off” and “go f— yourselves.” However, she also complimented a female firefighter moments later, calling her “so beautiful.”

In addition to witness testimony, the jury was shown bodycam footage where one officer allegedly told Huger she was “hammered,” a comment she vehemently denied on the tape, calling it “bulls—.” Despite the drama surrounding the case, Huger’s legal team continues to maintain that she is entitled to an appeal, signaling that the legal battle may not be over yet.

A Statement from Karen Huger’s Attorney

In a statement to PEOPLE, Huger’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment in the jury’s verdict but reiterated that they would respect the decision. Bolden, a partner at Reed Smith law firm, also emphasized that they plan to pursue an appeal, highlighting that Huger’s case is not concluded.

“We continue to reserve Mrs. Huger’s right to an appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf. We appreciate your support and prayers for Mrs. Huger and her family at this time,” said Bolden.

What’s Next for Karen Huger?

As her sentencing date nears, many are wondering how this legal battle will affect Huger’s future—both in the courtroom and on The Real Housewives of Potomac. While her legal team is holding onto hope for an appeal, the charges and trial could impact her public image and reputation.

I’m so embarrassed for #KarenHuger since she doesn’t know how to humble her own self based on her actions and attitude this season. #RHOP DONT FORGET THIS IS #3 the 3rd DUI. pic.twitter.com/6IEDMLoqJw
