BLOND:ISH is fusing a green approach into her music, literally, by pressing her new album into an eco-friendly vinyl made from used cooking oil.
She’s no stranger to environmental advocacy, promoting a lifestyle she calls “Sustainable Raving” for years and even launching her own nonprofit, Bye Bye Plastic, back in 2020. Now, the house music star is spotlighting the environmental toll of the vinyl production process by opting to use environmentally friendly materials for her new album, Never Walk Alone.
Crafted from biogenic waste including used cooking oil, the green vinyl production process reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 90%, according to a press release. The limited edition LP’s packaging will feature a mosaic of fans with their loved ones and best friends. BLOND:ISH is welcoming submissions on her Instagram.
She shared that when she first started the Bye Bye Plastic foundation, hate-fueled comments rushed in and scrutinized her choices, but ultimately pushed her to think outside of the box.
“But then honestly those haters gave me an idea and a dream, to make a plastic free vinyl—I’m like, ‘What if we can actually produce a vinyl that fits into the circular loop of nature!'” she wrote on social media. “I searched far and wide to find a vinyl solution that didn’t include wasteful plastic… and after months I finally found one!”
Never Walk Alone is scheduled to land on February 14th, 2025. You can pre-order the album here.
