Bruce Willis’ Family Is ‘Praying For A Miracle’ Amid His Dementia Struggle

Bruce Willis’ family is preparing for a heartfelt Christmas celebration despite his battle with frontotemporal dementia.

The Hollywood star’s family reportedly plans to share moments through photos and videos ahead of the actor’s upcoming 70th birthday in March.

Despite challenges amid his dementia battle, Bruce Willis’ family remain hopeful as they support the actor.

For the holidays, the 69-year-old star, whose dementia diagnosis was made public in 2023, will be surrounded by the love and support of his family.

His wife, Emma Heming Willis, and their daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, will reportedly be joined by his ex-wife Demi Moore and their daughters Rumer, 36; Scout, 33; and Tallulah, 30, this holiday period.

A source told In Touch that the family is coming together to “make this Christmas extra special” while they continue “praying for a miracle” and hoping for a medical breakthrough.

However, the insider noted that the family is “mostly focused on spending quality time with him while they still can,” as “every second of connection with him is special.”

The source also shared that the family plans to bond by “listening to music and looking at old photos and videos.”

“They love coming together as a family,” the insider added.

As Christmas approaches, the source mentioned that Heming and the rest of the family plan to “continue posting videos and photos with Bruce.”

They will also celebrate his 70th birthday in March. According to the insider, the family hopes their positive posts, centered on their connections with the actor, will “serve as a touching message from Bruce to his fans—that he’ll always find joy in his life, even now.”

In recent years, Christmas has become a cherished time for the Willis family to come together and enjoy each other’s company.

Last year, Moore shared heartwarming photos of the family celebrating in matching pink pajamas, though Bruce wasn’t seen participating in that moment.

However, the “Die Hard” actor embraced the holiday tradition in 2020, during the early days of the pandemic, when he quarantined with his ex-wife and their daughters at their former Idaho home.

At the time, the family gathered for a cozy photo in green-and-white striped pajamas.

In a touching pair of photos posted on Instagram by Tallulah and Scout on November 28, Bruce sits between his daughters, smiling while holding a “Best Dad Ever” plaque as they look at him.

Their simple caption for the Thanksgiving moment read: “Grateful.”

This sense of gratitude has become a central theme for the family as they support Bruce through his ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

In September, Tallulah also gave an update on her father on “The Today Show,” explaining, “He’s stable, which in this situation is good. There are painful days, but there’s so much love, and it’s really shown me to not take any moment for granted. You have to be present.”

Moore has also been a source of strength for her daughters, helping them navigate Bruce’s condition.

“The disease is what the disease is. You have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is. When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game,” Moore said per People Magazine.

She added, “But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness. And being able to share with whatever we have, for however long we have it.”

While some might be surprised by Bruce’s strong bond with his ex-wife, Moore, she has previously spoken about how their relationship has only grown stronger over the years.

In her 2019 memoir “Inside Out,” Moore revealed that she and Bruce are “more connected than ever” since their divorce. She also described her connection with Heming as “mothers united, sisters bonded on this crazy adventure of life.”

In an interview with CNN, the 62-year-old actress explained that the actor is “in a very stable place,” but it hasn’t been easy watching him struggle.

“Given the givens, he’s in a very stable place at the moment,” she shared. “And I’ve shared this before, but I really mean this so sincerely. It’s so important for anybody who’s dealing with this to really meet them where they’re at, and from that place, there is such loving and joy.”

Moore added that watching a loved one struggle with the condition is “very difficult” and is “not what I would wish upon anyone.”

“There is great loss, but there is also great beauty and gifts that can come from it,” she added.
