Governor Kevin Stitt has announced a new initiative to prepare students for life after high school by introducing three milestones: college acceptance, vocational program enrollment, or military enlistment after graduation.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of introducing financial literacy, equipping students with practical knowledge about managing finances—a critical skill for their future independence. “We are trying to help young people prepare for the future,” he added. According to OKCFox, Joe Dorman, CEO of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, addressed the need for flexibility for students with special needs or unique circumstances.
