A new Terminator game, Terminator 2D: NO FATE, has been leaked thanks to the Australian Classification website, sparking some excitement among fans.

Developed and published by Reef Entertainment, the game is slated for release across major platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

This new game marks Reef Entertainment’s return to the franchise following their 2019 release of Terminator: Resistance. Unlike its predecessor, which had Teyon as the publisher, Reef Entertainment is fully handling the development and publishing of Terminator 2D: NO FATE.

While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, the “2D” aspect suggests a departure from the first-person mechanics of Resistance, potentially offering a side-scrolling or retro-inspired experience.

For those unfamiliar with Terminator: Resistance, it expanded the franchise’s narrative with an original story set nearly 30 years after Judgment Day.

Players stepped into the shoes of Jacob Rivers, a Resistance soldier battling Skynet in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. The game also included the Annihilation Line DLC, which paired Rivers with the iconic Kyle Reese in a mission to uncover the mystery behind a silenced outpost.

Terminator: Resistance built a dedicated following for its faithful representation of the franchise’s universe, and fans are eager to see how Reef Entertainment will approach Terminator 2D: NO FATE.

Will it continue to build upon the series’ rich lore, or take an entirely new direction? Time will tell as we await an official announcement.
