Christina Aguilera is starting the new year with a powerful reminder about self-worth amid ongoing Ozempic rumors.

On Tuesday, the Grammy Award-winning singer shared a video montage on Instagram featuring clips of herself from the past year, paired with a series of critical comments from online users questioning her physical appearance and speculating about her possible use of Ozempic.

In the caption, Christina Aguilera delivered a clear message to her 10 million followers, emphasizing that while judgment is inevitable, “no one deserves an explanation.”

Despite the online criticism, Aguilera has learned to prioritize self-love and embrace confidence by becoming comfortable in her own skin.

“This year, doing something a little different,” she began. “This is a reminder to everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE. No one else can dictate who you are. No one deserves an explanation.”

“I am evolved enough to know that nothing comes easy and no one is perfect,” she continued. “Everyone will judge you. No matter WHAT you do. And/ or what you don’t do. Acceptance comes with accepting yourself first. And the difficult journey it takes sometimes to get there.”

Addressing The Body-Shamers

The “Genie In A Bottle” artist has recently become the target of online criticism and body-shaming following changes in her. Despite ongoing online debates and speculation about whether the “Beautiful” singer has used the medication, Aguilera has not directly addressed the rumors.

For context, Ozempic is a semaglutide injection initially approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat Type 2 diabetes. However, it has gained widespread attention for its off-label use as a weight-loss medication, alongside similar drugs in the market.

“I celebrate everyone taking the time to put one step in front of the next every day in order to build the next version of themselves for the better,” the singer concluded. “Allowing yourself grace, patience and respect…”

This is by far the first time she has spoken out about the backlash she has received surrounding her body image and weight.

“I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f-ck about your opinion,” she told Glamour earlier this year. “I’m not going to take it on. It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”

“When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s,” she added. “I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’ Then I had industry people: ‘They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.’”

Reflecting On The ‘Stigma’ And ‘Old-School Behavior’

In 2023, the “Beautiful” singer spoke out about the double standards she has faced as a woman in the spotlight, navigating the intense scrutiny surrounding her appearance and the natural process of aging.

“It’s a lot of stigma, a lot of old-school behavior and ideals that women have to look a certain way and that it’s shameful to get older,” Aguilera told Allure in an interview published in March. “No matter what you do, you’re going to have people that hate on you.”

“I’ve always been a pretty open book about embracing my body, my looks,” she explained. “I think to each their own, and I think we [should] all do what’s right for us, so I don’t believe in judgment where that’s concerned whatsoever.”
