Ciara already has her hands full with her 7-year-old daughter Sienna Princess Wilson.
On Dec. 31, a clip of the mother-daughter duo behind the scenes of their Halloween shoot was reposted on The Neighborhood Talk. Sienna, wearing a wig cap, belted out her mother’s 2010 single “Ride” while seated next to her.
Sienna loudly sang, “He love the way I ride it. He love the way I ride it.” Ciara then attempted to interject to tell Sienna a “fun fact” but before she could get it out Sienna had more to say.
Mimicking Ludacris’ adlib in a goofy tone, Sienna said, “I love the way you ride the beat baby. I love it.” The mom of four could do nothing but put her head down and laugh.
What prompted Sienna to begin singing the tune was Ciara’s costume of choice for Halloween. She was going to be dressing as herself from her music video for “Ride.” Sienna was also going to dress like her mother but in one of her costumes from her tour.
Ciara’s outfit entailed a black cutout halter swimsuit and a fur coat. Sienna, on the other hand, wore a monochromatic red outfit with a crown, leather top and pants, and sneakers.
Fans couldn’t help but laugh at the innocent moment in the comments.
One person said, “Lord when she figure out what that song was about.”
Someone else wrote, “Ciara was like I have so many songs and you choose that one.”
A third person joked, “The ride she was singing about made you exist miss ma’am.”
While it got love from fans, including by Ciara’s husband Russell Wilson, the music video was once banned on BET. It’s sexual nature was a bit too risqué for the network, and they felt it was inappropriate to have on air at the time. Even UK music channels refused to play it.
In the video, Ciara bussed out in sexual dance moves like winding her waist and grinding on the floor. While wearing her halter swimsuit and coat, there were shots of her groin area and of her doing belly dances. One of her last looks in the video was of her looking sweaty as she rode on top of a mechanical bull.
Responding to the ban, Ciara told Rap-Up TV, “It’s definitely very unfortunate and hopefully one day it will be on there. I’m definitely more than willing to make an edit to make it suitable for whatever it is that would be more comfortable to the network.”
When asked if she thought the video was too sexy. She said, “It’s kind of hard to say. I will say that I’m definitely aware that my video has some very sensual moments in it for sure. I can’t sit up there and look at it and say that it doesn’t. However, I do know that they do play sensual videos as well. So I mean I guess it’s just one of those calls that happened.”
But the then 24-year-old was still acknowledged for the single. She received an award for Best Dance Performance at the 2010 Soul Train Awards. It also peaked at the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart in August 2010, according to the website.
