According to KVBT, officers discovered the footprints of 40-year-old Brent Sharrai in the snow after receiving a call around 6 a.m. about a suspicious person attempting to light a fire near a train car. Inside the train car, they discovered an undetonated IED that was made out of a PVC pipe filled with black powder extracted from fireworks. The footprints led officers to a camp trailer where Sharrai attempted to flee but surrendered shortly after.
While searching the camp trailer, investigators discovered more materials used to create the explosive device, along with drug paraphernalia and controlled substances. Sharrai now faces multiple charges, including possession of a destructive device, possession of controlled substances, and resisting arrest.
