Tacoma FD, which aired on TruTV, was canceled after Season 4. Since then, fans of the series have been wondering why the series wasn’t renewed for a Season 5. So, what was the reason behind this?

Here’s what we have uncovered.

Why did Tacoma FD Season 5 get canceled after four seasons?

Tacoma FD’s cancelation after Season 4 is likely due to TruTV’s departure from making scripted comedy content. This was confirmed by series creators Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, who also played the lead roles of Chief Terry McConky and Steve Lemme. They confirmed it in an Instagram post, where they had also thanked the cast and crew for the work, and expressed gratitude towards fans of the series.

It is also possible that Tacoma FD’s cancelation boiled down to monetary decisions (via Screen Rant). This shift from scripted comedy content was not only restricted to TruTV. Sibling channels like TBS and TNT also moved away from making scripted content. For instance, TBS canceled Miracle workers, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi after four seasons.

Hassie Harrison, who played Chief McConky’s daughter and fellow firefighter Lucy, was saddened by the cancelation. She shared her disappointment on Instagram, wherein she called her role “a dream job.” Harrison added that she could have played the role “forever” had the show not been canceled.

Tacoma FD reportedly found even more audience after all four seasons became available on Netflix. The story takes place primarily at a firehouse in Tacoma, Washington. It revolves around the professional lives of the firehouse members who handle various fire-related incidents. It also explores the camaraderie between the members.

Besides Heffernan, Lemme, and Harrison, the series also starred Marcus Henderson, Gabriel Hogan, and Eugene Cordero.
