Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo’s relationship was one that many fans of Southern Charm followed closely. The couple, who had been together for three years, recently made headlines for both their surprising split and their thoughtful approach to planning for the future – even before they parted ways. The two reality stars had taken a unique step in preparing for the future, making a decision that would impact their lives well beyond their breakup.
In the January 2 episode of Southern Charm, Craig Conover revealed that he had frozen his sperm months before he and Paige called it quits. The decision to freeze his sperm was part of their long-term plan to wait a few more years before starting a family. They envisioned waiting three or four more years before having children, which led Craig to make the proactive decision to preserve his fertility.
In a conversation with his friends Austen Kroll and Shep Rose, Craig explained his reasoning, noting how a story about someone who had suffered a car accident and lost their ability to have children had made an impact on him. “I would be remiss to not say that becoming a dad is probably… whatever it’s called when it has to happen in my future,” Craig shared.
While Craig remained focused on his future as a father, his friends reminded him that this plan would have him becoming a dad at the age of 40, a thought that didn’t seem to faze him. “I know,” Craig responded with a laugh. But his journey into parenthood seemed far from certain at the time.
The episode also provided a glimpse into Craig Conover’s reflection on how life had turned out for him. Growing up, he imagined himself in a stable home, a life that didn’t entirely align with his reality. “The version of life that I saw myself living isn’t what I’m living, which is this stable home that I grew up in,” he confessed in a confessional. His relationship with Paige, a feisty Italian from New York, had definitely brought a new dynamic to his life, one that deviated from his early expectations.
While Paige had been the one to suggest waiting to have children, Craig Conover admitted that without her influence, he likely would have followed a more traditional path—date for a while, get married, and then have kids. However, with Paige’s perspective, he began to see the benefit of focusing on their careers and financial growth before diving into parenthood.
“It’s okay if plans change,” Craig said, emphasizing the importance of flexibility in relationships and life choices.
While they had been planning for the future together, life had other plans for Craig and Paige. Just days before the Southern Charm episode aired, Paige revealed on her Giggly Squad podcast that she and Craig had decided to part ways. The news was a shock to many fans, especially considering their openness about their future goals.
Despite the breakup, Paige made it clear that there was no animosity between them. “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” she said, adding that their decision was mutual and rooted in the understanding that they were simply not aligned in some areas of their lives. “No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing,” Paige explained, affirming that their split was more about maturity and the power of communicating their desires for the future.
Paige also expressed her deep respect and admiration for Craig, calling him “one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life.” She emphasized that there was no ill will, and that she would continue to be one of his biggest supporters. She also hinted at the possibility of maintaining a friendship with Craig Conover moving forward.
