Why Denzel Washington Movie Took 35 Years To Make

Zoe Saldaña achieved a milestone in her career during the 2025 Golden Globes. Among the list of nominees for her performance in Emilia Pérez, the American actress won Best Supporting Actress. After her win, Saldaña revealed what Avatar director James Cameron texted her during the awards show ceremony.

The New Jersey native actress has been a box office queen with her sci-fi franchises. Saldaña made history pioneering the use of motion capture technology with Cameron for the Avatar movies. She’ll continue to reprise Pandora native Neytiri for the upcoming sequels of the series. Now, after 25 years of acting, Saldaña has won her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in Emilia Pérez.

What did Zoe Saldaña say about James Cameron’s text during the Golden Globes?

According to EW, Saldaña spoke to the press after her win about the people who supported her. Naturally, she credited Emilia Pérez director Jacques Audiard. However, she also shared that another director took the time to congratulate her.

“I was sitting in the audience and I received a message from James Cameron, who is in New Zealand right now cutting Avatar: Fire and Ash,” Saldaña shared. “After all these years, he believes in me. It nourishes my desire to continue growing as an artist.”

Saldaña told the press that before her win, she was considering “plan B’s” about whether she should take up garden, baking, or being “the sexiest soccer mom.” But, the high-grossing actress acknowledged that she’s “an artist through and through.” With the Avatar movies and lending her voice for the upcoming Pixar movie Elio, she’s got her work cut out for her.

As James Cameron has been working with Zoe Saldaña since filming the first Avatar movie, it’s no surprise what a big supporter of her he was. While filming already wrapped up for Avatar: Fire and Ash in December 2020, it looks like Cameron is putting together its finishing touches before its December 2025 release.

Emilia Pérez is available to watch now on Netflix.
