The Real Housewives of New Jersey was nearly completely recast after season 14, according to a new report.
Before producers ultimately decided to put the show on pause due to the divide between the cast, who either sided with Teresa Giudice, 52, or Melissa Gorga, 45, amid their family feud, they allegedly pursued a group of all new women in hopes of giving the series a much-needed boost.
“When Season 14 wrapped, Bravo decided to pursue taking the show in a new direction,” a source close to production told OK! Magazine on January 6. “Bravo offered a group of new, younger women positions to be on the show.”
Although producers allegedly planned to reboot the show, much like The Real Housewives of New York City was after season 13 and Vanderpump Rules was after season 11, they eventually second-guessed the decision. They opted instead to put the potential new cast and the season 14 cast on pause.
“Bravo ended up not being sure what direction they wanted to take the show in, so they put the new women on pause, as well as the old women,” the source explained.
As for the current status of RHONJ, things are said to be up in the air as executives are “still deciding” what they should do for season 15.
“[There’s] no plans to film anything for RHONJ until at least December 2025,” the insider shared. “This means the old cast could come back in some capacity or it could be an entire new cast. Truly no decisions have been made.”
As fans will recall, Andy Cohen, 56, recently shut down the possibility of anything happening with the series in the coming months, sharing that fans will likely have to wait until 2026 for news.
“You’re not gonna get it for, like, a year, so everyone stop asking,” he told Us Weekly last month.
