J. Lo Keeps $5M Item After Finalizing Split With Ben Affleck

Last year, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck made headlines when the “On the Floor” singer ended her highly publicized marriage to the “Air” actor in August.

Additionally, since they share no children together, child custody and support were non-issues.

One standout detail from the settlement is Lopez’s retention of her iconic engagement ring.

According to court documents reviewed by Page Six, the “Unstoppable” actress will keep the stunning 8.5-carat natural green diamond engagement ring gifted by Affleck during their 2022 proposal. The rare green diamond, flanked by trapezoid-shaped white diamonds, is estimated to be worth over $5 million, with some experts suggesting its value could exceed $10 million.

Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, previously described the ring as “incredibly rare,” noting that a green diamond of its size is virtually unparalleled in the jewelry world.

Affleck’s choice of the green diamond was deeply personal, as green is Lopez’s favorite color. He even engraved the ring with a sentimental phrase: “not.going.anywhere.,” a nod to how he signed off their emails when they rekindled their romance.

After their split, insiders revealed to OK Magazine that Lopez had no intention of returning the ring. “It was a gift,” a source explained. “Just because the relationship didn’t work out doesn’t mean she has to give it back.”

The source added, “Jennifer has zero guilt about keeping it, and clearly Ben doesn’t mind — he’s done this twice already! It’s not like he didn’t know what he was getting into!”

The financial settlement mediated by renowned attorney Laura Wasser has proven to be the perfect prenuptial agreement for the Hollywood power couple, safeguarding their substantial assets amid their split. With Affleck’s stake in his highly successful production company, Artists Equity, millions of dollars were on the line.

Affleck co-founded Artists Equity in November 2022 with longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon, just four months after marrying Lopez. The production company quickly made waves in the film industry, releasing hits such as “Air,” “Unstoppable,” and the highly anticipated “The Accountant 2.” Thanks to the terms of their settlement, Affleck will retain full ownership of his share in the company, ensuring that Lopez won’t have any financial claims to his stake.

Similarly, Lopez, who experienced her own professional highs during their marriage, will keep the earnings from her successful projects, including her album “This Is Me… Now,” and films like “The Mother,” “Shotgun Wedding,” and “Marry Me.” Both stars leave the marriage with their financial independence intact.

Despite their separation, Affleck and Lopez remain committed to maintaining an amicable relationship, especially for the well-being of their children. Over the Christmas holiday, the former couple was spotted having lunch and exchanging gifts at the exclusive Soho House in West Hollywood.

A source close to the pair revealed to Page Six, “They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved.” The insider added, “Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids.”

Plus, sources close to Lopez revealed last month that she’s eager to leave the past behind as the new year approaches, staying “focused on her own life.” An insider said that the mother of two “has had a rough year but is doing well.” They added, “She’s ready for Christmas and to start the new year fresh.”
