The Blast reported yesterday that Perry’s former home, a 3,500-square-foot, four-bedroom mid-century modern property, was located within an evacuation zone. The late “Friends” actor had purchased the residence in 2020 for $6 million. It was sold earlier this year in an $8.55 million off-market deal, nearly a year after Perry’s untimely passing.

The property was acquired by Anita Verma-Lallian, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based movie producer and real estate developer, who intends to use it as a vacation home. Verma-Lallian purchased the home through a trust, with Brooke Elliott Laurinkus of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California representing the sale and Greg Holcomb of Carolwood Estates holding the listing.

According to officials, at least five fires have erupted across the Los Angeles area, scorching more than 45 square miles and prompting evacuation orders for approximately 179,000 residents. The Palisades Fire, which has now grown to nearly 27 square miles, has destroyed hundreds of structures and remains one of the largest active blazes.

Meanwhile, the Eaton Fire in northern Los Angeles County has burned more than 16 square miles, claimed five lives, and destroyed nearly 1,000 structures. The Sunset Fire in Hollywood Hills, which erupted on Wednesday, briefly forced evacuations and threatened iconic landmarks before it was contained Thursday morning.

As the wildfires continue to burn, the situation remains critical. Officials are urging residents in affected areas to heed evacuation orders and stay informed as firefighting efforts persist. With three of the five major blazes still entirely uncontained, the impact of these fires on communities and properties like Perry’s former home remains to be seen.

In the letter, Academy CEO Bill Kramer confirmed that voting for the 97th Oscars nominations will now remain open until January 14, with the nomination announcement show rescheduled for January 19.
