Connie Boss Alexander, the mother of the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss, is on a mission to put some of the “untruths” about her son’s personal life to rest.
In an open letter shared to her Instagram on Jan. 9, Alexander revealed that she and her family were “absolutely appalled by the misleading and hurtful claims” made by Boss’ widow, Allison Holker, during a recent interview with PEOPLE. In a Jan. 7 interview, Holker told the outlet that she found a “cornucopia” of drugs hidden by Boss in their home shortly after the DJ passed away by suicide in December 2022. However, Alexander stressed that the statement was false in her emotional post shared on Thursday.

“The recent publications spreading untruths about Stephen have crossed every line of decency. As his mother, I will not let these accusations go unanswered,” Alexander, who did not mention Holker’s name, penned. “We will not stand by while his name and legacy are tarnished. He doesn’t deserve this, and the kids don’t deserve this.”
She added, “For the last two years, I have remained quiet and away from the public eye to protect my family. My primary focus has been on healing and attempting to remain connected to my grandchildren. But when I read these dreadful claims about my baby, our beloved Stephen, I realized I could not stay silent any longer. Our family will ensure his name and memory are protected, and we are committed to defending his honor.”

Earlier this month, Holker, 36, revealed that she had discovered a disturbing collection of drugs hidden in shoeboxes after the tragic suicide of the Ellen DeGeneres Show co-executive producer and longtime DJ, who died at 40. Among the alleged items were mushrooms, pills, and other substances she had to look up on her phone.
“It was a really triggering moment for me because there were a lot of things I discovered in our closet that I did not know existed,” Holker told PEOPLE. “It was very alarming to me to learn that there was so much happening that I had no clue (about).”
Holker will share more details about some of the personal struggles endured by her late husband in her new memoir, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light, which will drop on Feb. 4. According to Holker, Boss’ journal contained several entries in which he alluded to being sexually abused by a male figure during his childhood.
Some fans criticized Holker for exposing Boss’ private life after news of her memoir and PEOPLE interview made headlines. In response, Holker clarified the intentions behind the book.
“To fans of Stephen and our family and friends, I want to be clear that my only intention in writing the book is to share my own story as well as part of my life with Stephen to help other people,” she wrote, according to TODAY. “Just like you, I never really knew what happened, and even as I am trying to put the pieces together I will never really know.”
