Why Captain Triumph Could Be Peacemaker Season 2’s Real Villain

The much-awaited Squid Game Season 2 has taken the globe by storm, thanks to its riveting story with fresh characters and new games. Fans who have binged it all are now wondering why the Front Man, AKA Player 001 (Lee Byung-hun), decided to change all the games. Moreover, the question on everyone’s mind is: Will Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) overcome this major hiccup in his plans and survive?

Here’s everything viewers need to know about why the Front Man created new games in Season 2 of Squid Game.

Why did the Front Man create new games for Squid Game Season 2?

The Front Man decided to change the games in the sophomore season in order to foil Gi-hun’s plan to stop the annual games and take his revenge against the creators.

In Season 1, viewers learn that the annual games are just a form of entertainment for wealthy billionaires. Every year, filthy rich people attend the games disguised as VIPs and watch the players from behind hidden cameras. Sometimes, they even bet for and against some players.

When Gi-hun discovers this vile reason behind the death of so many innocent people, he makes it his mission to stop the games. Hence, in Season 2, he manages to convince the Front Man to let him participate in the game again, so that he can take them down from within.

However, the Front Man is two steps ahead and decides to participate in the game himself as Player 001. Knowing that Gi-hun would try and sabotage the games, he cunningly changes them. The former’s original plan is to help as many people as possible, thanks to his prior knowledge of the games. But the moment he realizes that all the games have been changed after Red Light and Green Light, he no longer has the upper hand.

While Gi-hun expects the second game to be the infamous Dalgona challenge, it turns out to be the Six-Legged Pentathlon. So, even after he confesses to the rest of the players that he is the previous winner of the game and also gives tips to his allies about the Dalgona game, it turns out to be all in vain. Thus, the Front Man’s plan of infiltrating as Player 001 and changing the games works, throwing Gi-hun off his tracks.
