PREVIOUSLY, January 10: As the Los Angeles fire tragedy continues to unfold, the American Society of Cinematographers has postponed today’s planned release of its 2025 ASC Awards nominations. The announcement now is set for Monday, January 13.

The news comes as the Oscars, Writers Guild and Producers Guild postponed their nominations and the Critics Choice Awards ceremony was rescheduled amid the ongoing crisis.

The L.A. wildfires also have affected a number of film premieres, TV show tapings and other events and forced some movie theaters and local theme parks to close.

The 39th annual ASC Awards, which celebrate the year’s best in cinematography in seven categories spanning feature film, documentary and TV, is set for February 23 at the Beverly Hilton. Producer and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy is set for the ASC’s 2025 Board of Governors Award, and longtime Sidney Lumet collaborator Andrzej Bartkowiak will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Michael Goi, Joan Churchill, John Simmons and Pete Romano also are set for career honors from the group.
