Neil Young is sharing his thoughts about Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and memories of his past with the iconic musician.

“I love Bob Dylan and his music. Always have. He’s a great artist. Once he was on my bus and I didn’t recognize him and threw him off but that’s another story,” Young wrote in his review on his personal website Neil Young Archives.

Despite his somewhat negative encounter with the Blowin’ In The Wind singer, Young continued to praise the film, which stars Timothée Chalamet as a young Dylan, “This movie is a great tribute to his life and music. I think if you love Bob’s music you should see this great movie. I loved it.”

The film, directed by James Mangold, is about Dylan’s rise to fame in the 1960s and how immersed he was in the folk music scene, like Young was, too.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s chief film critic David Rooney also gave his stamp of approval in his review of the film: “Any Dylan fan or indeed anyone with a fondness for the music coming out of New York City in the first half of that tumultuous decade will find ample pleasures in Mangold’s expertly crafted film. The period recreation is impeccable, and the many music performance sequences could not be more transporting, benefiting enormously from lead actors doing their own singing with estimable polish.”

Rooney continued to applaud Chalamet’s performance as Dylan, as he learned to sing and play guitar for the role: “His voice — raw, nasal, scratchy but full of passion, anger and wry wisdom — is near enough to the original to be unmistakable and yet colored by the actor’s persona to a degree that suggests something closer to symbiosis than impersonation.”

A Complete Unknown is currently in theaters.
