Travis Kelce says working with Adam Sandler on Happy Gilmore 2 was a “dream come true.”

The original Happy Gilmore movie was released in 1996. A sequel is now in the works with Sandler returning as the titular character. It has been confirmed that Kelce will also appear in the movie.

During a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, via Variety, Kelce discussed his experiences working on the forthcoming comedy movie.

“That was a dream come true,” Kelce said, “I thought SNL was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman, and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.”

He added, “They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the [Kansas City Chiefs’ coach] Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome.”

What else do we know about Happy Gilmore 2?

Plot details for Happy Gilmore 2 remain under wraps at this time. The movie is expected to arrive on Netflix at some point in 2025, though an exact release date has not yet been announced.

Along with Sandler and Kelce, Happy Gilmore 2 stars Julie Bowen, Allen Covert, Dennis Dugan, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Nick Swardson, and more.

A description of the 1996 Happy Gilmore movie reads, “All Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) has ever wanted is to be a professional hockey player. But he soon discovers he may actually have a talent for playing an entirely different sport: golf. When his grandmother (Frances Bay) learns she is about to lose her home, Happy joins a golf tournament to try and win enough money to buy it for her. With his powerful driving skills and foulmouthed attitude, Happy becomes an unlikely golf hero — much to the chagrin of the well-mannered golf professionals.”
