Tensions flared between The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Kyle Richards and Garcelle Beauvais during the latest episode of the reality show, following a bold comment made by Beauvais that left Richards visibly shaken. In a candid moment on the after-show with Erika Jayne, Richards openly expressed her frustration with Beauvais, calling her an “a–hole” for suggesting that Richards should embrace her sexuality more openly.
The tension began during a casual trip to Chuck E. Cheese in the episode, where Kyle Richards was discussing her ongoing separation from her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky. Amid the conversation, Beauvais, 58, who was also at the outing with Sutton Stracke and Erika Jayne, seized the moment to bluntly suggest that Richards might want to “be whoever you want to be.” Beauvais then added, “If you want to be a lesbian, be a lesbian,” catching Richards off guard.
Kyle Richards, who seemed shocked by the remark, later reflected on the comment on Bravo’s After Show. “What was really going through my head was, ‘You’re being an a–hole right now. And don’t try to act like, ‘Oopsie daisy,’ you know exactly what you’re doing,’” Richards said. She seemed to interpret Beauvais’ comment as both an unwelcome suggestion and an unnecessary provocation, implying that Beauvais was deliberately trying to stir up drama.
However, Garcelle Beauvais, who has been known for her straightforward approach, defended her words, clarifying that she wasn’t pushing Richards to “come out” or make any public declaration. Instead, she insisted her message was about authenticity. “I wasn’t trying to call her out. Own it. Be authentic,” Beauvais explained. “I feel like Kyle cares a lot about what people think and how this is going to look. If this is who you are or even if you’re discovering it, discover it and own it.”
The tension between the two stars seems to stem from a deeper conversation surrounding Richards’ personal life. When Richards and Umansky, 54, announced their separation in July 2023, rumors began swirling about Richards’ connection to country singer Morgan Wade, 30. Though both women denied any romantic involvement, they were often seen spending time together, including on private jets and in Los Angeles hotspots. Their close relationship was further fueled by their appearance in Wade’s 2023 music video for the song “Fall In Love With Me,” where the two appeared affectionate, as well as by matching tattoos they got shortly after.
Despite the rumors, Kyle Richards has maintained that she and Wade are simply friends, but Beauvais’ comment in the episode seemed to suggest that Richards should embrace whatever feelings or relationships might be part of her life.
