A new trailer for The Monkey has been released.

The Monkey is a forthcoming horror movie from NEON and director Osgood Perkins. Based on the Stephen King short story of the same name, the movie will be released in United States theaters this February.

Check out the new The Monkey trailer below (watch more trailers and clips):

What is The Monkey about?

“After stumbling upon their father’s vintage toy monkey in the attic, twin brothers Hal and Bill witness a string of horrifying deaths unfolding around them,” the synopsis reads. “In an attempt to leave the haunting behind, the brothers opt to discard the monkey and pursue separate paths over time. However, when the inexplicable deaths resurface, the brothers are compelled to reconcile and embark on a mission to permanently eliminate the cursed toy.”

The Monkey stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy.

Perkins wrote the screenplay for The Monkey. Perkins’ past filmography includes 2015’s The Blackcoat’s Daughter, 2016’s I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, 2020’s Gretel & Hansel, and, most recently, 2024’s Longlegs starring Nicolas Cage.

James Wan, Michael Clear, Jason Cloth, and Dave Caplan produce the movie, while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Chris Ferguson, Peter Luo, Nancy Xu, and John Friedberg serve as executive producers.

Perkins recently told Entertainment Weekly about the movie’s tone and how it incorporates some dark humor, “What if it’s a comedy? Here’s this monkey that doesn’t do anything. It’s not M3GAN. It doesn’t attack. It’s evil just in its existence. Things happen around it for no better reason than they do. Its presence makes people die in insane ways…I’ve had people die in truly, deeply insane ways. Everybody dies whether there’s a monkey or not. What if you could do this with a smile — process the fact that everybody dies? And what an insane, surrealist notion, dude! You will die; we’ll all die. That’s crazy sh—. To do that as a comedy felt very apropos.”

The Monkey will be released in United States theaters on February 21, 2025, from Neon.
