Olivia Davis is backpedaling after her controversial comments regarding her ex Torrey Craig and his new girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion went viral. And as it turns out…she CAN pronounce Megan Thee Stallion’s name. Go figure!
TMZ caught up with the influencer on Jan. 14 outside of Whole Foods, and she had a lot to say following the backlash of her video. First thing’s first, “this podcast clip had nothing to do with race,” she said.
“I’ve never been called a racist in my entire life so it’s just a little bit of a shock to me.”
A clip from their podcast 3 Girls 1 Kitchen that aired in November went viral earlier this month. In the clip, one of the hosts, Lana Rhoades, said she saw Davis’ ex and NBA star Craig boo’d up with Megan. Davis proceeded to “struggle” saying her name. Somewhat brushing it off, she pronounced the Houston native’s name like “Magan” or “Mag” before saying it correctly. In the clip she said, “I just get my vowels always mixed up.”
During her talk with TMZ, Davis gave a swift apology and blamed her verbal mix-up on her foreign background. She and her family migrated to the United States from Ukraine when she was 9.
“Honestly, I’ve just been staying silent right now just because of the disaster that’s happening. So I just feel it’s a little insensitive for people to be attacking me,” she said, referencing the Los Angeles wildfires. Calling it a “stupid blonde moment“ she said, “I obviously understand if they’re offended. I deeply apologize for that.“
Similar to what she said in the podcast, Davis said she has “an issue pronouncing vowels sometimes.”
“And I’m not going to play the victim or use this as an excuse because I am foreign. I wasn’t born here, I didn’t speak English when I came here. Clearly now you can hear that I do speak proper English. But I do have a tendency to mix up vowels especially if I’m nervous, and in that moment during the podcast I was very nervous just from personal things I was going through.”

She proceeded to show that she can now pronounce the Houston native’s name, which she did correctly. She even admitted to being a fan of Megan’s music. It’s a statement she couldn’t deny because after the backlash of her video, viewers found old videos of her rapping to Megan’s music.
“I’m a fan I clearly have used her songs. A lot of people are thinking that I’m bitter, that I’m angry but I’m not. Like I said, we haven’t been a thing for years so I’m not like bitter about it at all,” she said.
Another thing that ticked people off about the clip is when Davis’ co-host Rhoades said that Megan wasn’t Craig’s usual type.
“I just wonder what his type is because you guys dated. Then he was talking to other girls when he was talking to you and they all look like you guys.” Rhoades then waved her hand toward Davis and their other co-host Alexa Adams. Both are white women with blonde hair.
When TMZ asked Davis to clarify what she said, “I mean I didn’t say that by the way. That was something that was said by my host. I just chimed in that he happens to see or date other girls that look similar to me, and that has nothing to do with race.”
She said, “I don’t think she’s not his type. I think I was just more so shocked that he was dating someone that was in the public eye that’s as big as her. Because she’s like mega star. I was just more so shocked from my past personal experience of knowing him and just knowing who he is as a person maybe he’s changed. I’m sure he has.
Davis continued, “Obviously I’m happy for him and I think it’s incredible that he’s dating someone as beautiful and as big as her. But yea, this podcast clip had nothing to do with race. That was not my intent. Obviously, I apologize to anyone I’ve offended but that was not my intention whatsoever.”
Neither Craig nor Megan has responded to Davis since the video went viral. It’s not clear when they began dating, but rumors of romance began to spark around August 2024. The “Savage” rapper posted and deleted a video of her and Craig in bed doing a TikTok challenge. In September, they stepped out together for a night out in New York City, cementing rumors of their relationship.
