In Montréal, they don’t just survive winter—they dance through it at Igloofest.

Dubbed “the world’s iciest festival,” Igloofest officially returns today and runs through February 8th. Zeds Dead, Michael Bibi, Claptone, Apashe, Tape B, Adriatique and Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello are set to perform, among many other top-tier electronic acts.

Dubbed “the world’s iciest festival,” Igloofest transforms the Old Port of Montréal into a glimmering, glacial dancefloor under the stars. Since its inception back in 2007, the festival has grown from a small-scale winter gathering to one of the city’s premier electronic music events, drawing tens of thousands to its icy embrace each year.

The festival’s charm lies in its unique blend of music and community, its ticket-holders bundling up in chic parkas and neon snowsuits while raving the night away, mittens to to the sky. It’s survival gear with style.

Igloofest isn’t just about braving the cold—it’s a dance-off with winter itself. So we caught up with a handful of this year’s DJs and performers to share their packing essentials.

Item: Merino Wool Gloved Scarf

“When looking up the weather in Montreal I saw numbers I’ve only seen in my bank account. Luckily the other co-founder of 14SAINTDENIS and I had just started experimenting with a merino wool gloved scarf, which has been saving me in the cold of Canadian winter, so I’d say that’s currently my must have item!” – IMANU

Item: AirPods

“We would have loved to be inventive but we’re not going to lie, it’s really the item we can’t do without. This little box comes along with us on all our our tours—it allows us to create demos of our future tracks during our trips, listen to music every day and, above all, reduce the screaming of children during our naps when traveling.” – Bon Entendeur

Claptone

Items: Golden Mask, Carrot

“Why have one when you can have two? My must-have items for Igloofest are my signature golden mask, which never leaves my side. It has to match the frosty atmosphere. And a carrot to have enough beta-carotin or alternatively build a snowman!” – Claptone

Items: Gold Faux Fur Lined Ski Suit, Hand Warmers, Wool Socks, Warm Underwear

“I hate being cold. So I am packing a gold faux fur lined ski suit, hand warmers and wool socks. Also underwear that covers the entire butt—no thongs because nobody wants a cold ass.” – Princess Superstar

Items: Bubblegum Pink Sunglasses, Backup USB

“I know my bubblegum pink sunglasses and backup USB drive will always have my back—they’re essential to every Awwful gig.” – Awwful

Item: Snowsuit

“For Igloofest, it can get cold so I would definitely make sure to wear my baby blue vintage snowsuit, which doesn’t keep me warm because I think it was designed for going to a chalet. But when else would I get to wear it? And some Hotshots for my boots!” – Regularfantasy
