The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis announce new album Deface The Currency

Knock2, has been DJing and making music since he was 11 years old. More than a decade later, who could have predicted that the San Diego native would grow to become electronic music’s biggest breakout?

Now, the EDM.com Class of 2023 star has revealed his first full-length album, nolimit. With 17 genre-bending tracks, it’s unambiguously clear that the prolific producer took the album’s name literally and produced without creative limitations.

“nolimit is my debut album. It has so many different meanings to me,” Knock2 said in a press release. “It’s a model I’ve created for myself to be the artist I want to be. An unconditional expression of my production, musical journey and care for dance music. My homage to the artists and music I grew up on, and a bridge to connect electronic music with the scenes I’m inspired by.”

Evers Pund

The album starts in signature Knock2 fashion, with two roaring, anthemic house tracks, “rookie” and “crank the bass, play the muzik.” They are pure dancefloor euphoria, blending infectious vocals, bouncy four-on-the-floor rhythms and polished sound design to deliver an unrelenting surge of adrenaline.

But nolimit is far from one-dimensional. The exhilarating album showcases Knock2’s uncanny ability to blur and bulldoze genre boundaries with artful experimentation. The track “shake!the!city!” takes a playful turn, pairing Naliya’s bold, bratty vocals with a catchy, club-ready beat.

Meanwhile, “my melody” blends hyperpop and 2000s jungle in a dreamlike, atmospheric soundscape. Then there’s “select@,” which flings us headlong into a drum & bass roller, adding yet another layer of versatility to the album.

nolimit is out now via 88rising. Listen to the new album below and find it on streaming platforms here.
