Mia Thornton took to social media after Sunday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac to set the record straight in regard to certain topics addressed on the show.
After being confronted by Karen Huger, 61, at Ashley Darby‘s drag show about the inconsistencies between her story and that of her estranged husband, Gordon Thornton, 72, who shaded the decisions she made for their kids when she was in Panama, Mia posted a few messages and leaked several texts sent between her and her ex. Plus, she also reacted to the drama surrounding her son Jeremiah’s paternity.
“Let me set the record straight. I was NOT the one who brought the questioning of my son’s paternity into the public eye—his father did,” Mia declared on X, formerly Twitter, on January 20. “I did NOT expose my infidelity to the world—my husband did. It was Gordon who chose to air our family matters on TMZ and later went on a public apology tour during last year’s reunion. He revealed something I had been protecting him from for years: his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which causes him to behave unpredictably.”
According to Mia, Gordon “altered the narrative, leaving [her] to navigate around the truth.”
“As individuals with Bipolar can look, sound, and seem just as ‘normal’ as other people do, it’s those closest to them that get bit. I’m fine with being labeled a ‘liar’ if it means protecting my family, but it’s heartbreaking that people still choose to believe Gordon when he told you all who and what he is capable of,” she concluded. “But Sure, okay.”
In addition to sharing her message on X, Mia also posted her words on her Instagram Story, along with a response from a fan, whom she agreed with.
“Exactly Mia … but these people are dead set on misunderstanding you and not seeing your point but the proof has always…” the fan wrote.
“Honestly, everyone can feel how they want but we have to go off on fact here that’s it, that’s all,” Mia agreed.
With a second post on X, Mia included another message and a series of screenshots of text messages sent between her and Gordon on July 18, 2024, and July 19, 2024.
“Call me a liar, a bad mom, or whatever else you want — I know who I am. Believe what you will, but the truth never expires,” she wrote. “([Ashley’s event] was held on July 18th for context.)”
In the first message, Gordon was seen requesting the information of the nanny she hired to care for their kids while she was in Panama before alerting her about an upcoming pickup, which Mia seemed to deny knowing about on the show.
“I will pick the kids up around noon time Friday,” he stated. “I am leaving Friday afternoon and taking the kids with me. My original plan was to pick them up from Donna Friday afternoon then driving to Charlotte.”
After Mia expressed some confusion about Gordon’s plans, saying that she felt “they keep changing,” she pulled his decision-making into question and told him she needed to “ensure the safety of the kids.”
As the screenshots continued, with another shared on her Instagram Story, Mia included a message from Gordon in which he told her to “tear their a** up,” seemingly in regard to RHOP‘s production team or Mia’s castmates.
“Chew them up and spit them out,” he texted. “What happened last night was bullsh*t. Ask the production team whether I emphatically said during filming with Ray that you were a great mother. I praised you extensively during the conversation. You should be pissed at production for setting you up. In my opinion, they shared bits of information with the ladies in order to get to you and did not share the whole conversation.”
In response, Mia told Gordon that they shouldn’t have been given information to use against her.
“Do you mean like when you posted on Instagram ‘my [kid’s] fathers,’ (plural)[?] I choose to believe you did not think about how that made me feel or how people would react to that post,” he wrote in his defense.
Gordon then addressed the questions surrounding Jeremiah’s paternity, which he allegedly already established, agreeing to take a test to prove the child was his, and not Mia’s now-ex-boyfriend, Inc‘s.
“I will agree to be at the test provided I pick the place. Jared doesn’t trust me which gives me cause not to trust him. I think that is a fair…” Gordon wrote.
The Real Housewives of Potomac season nine airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
