Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber’s Relationship: A Timeline

Backstage at the TODAY Show in NYC, a 14-year old Hailey Baldwin was introduced to Bieber in a brief encounter assisted by her father, actor Steve Baldwin. Revisit the meeting in this TODAY show clip.

The two made their first red-carpet appearance together at the premiere of Bieber’s biopic, Never Say Never, when Hailey and dad Stephen attended the event.

Following Bieber and Selena Gomez’s very public separation in 2014, Baldwin stepped into the picture and began spending more time with the “Baby” heartthrob. This is when the relationship rumors began to swirl. Justin captioned the photo “NYC with the clown posse.”

Baldwin spoke with E! News at the premiere of Exodus and denied the dating rumors. “I’ve known him since I was young, and we’ve been good friends over the years,” she shared. “We’ve stayed close and there’s nothing more than that.”

Just a few days after the interview, Bieber posted a photo of the two in the backseat of a car, continuing to deny the rumors. “People are crazy. I’m super single and this is my good friend u would know otherwise,” he captioned the black-and-white photo.

The two rang in the new year together, as confirmed by Bieber in yet another Instagram post. 

Baldwin and Bieber crashed the Chatsworth Charter High School prom in California. Hailey shared a picture of her on the dance floor in a tweet that has since been deleted. The pop star tweeted the school’s account the next day saying, “always wanted to go to prom. Thanks for having me. #promcrasher.”

During a tropical getaway, Bieber traveled with his dad and two younger siblings Jaxon and Jazmyn. Hailey joined the trip as well, as seen in Justin’s post below. 

Also on the trip, the two celebrated New Year’s while vacationing, with Bieber posting this photo to seemingly confirm the highly speculated relationship. 

Bieber confirmed his relationship with to GQ magazine, saying, “She’s someone I really love. We spend a lot of time together.” Finally!

Baldwin Speaks

While on the red carpet at the 2016 amfAR New York Gala, Baldwin was questioned by E! News about the relationship. She stayed mostly quiet, but did say, “We are not an exclusive couple. He’s about to go on tour.” She added, “Relationships at this age are already complicated, but I don’t really like to talk about it because it’s between me and him.”

Nearly two years since being spotted together, Baldwin opened up about their complicated relationship to The Times UK. This interview came after news that Bieber and Selena Gomez had called it quits after a re-blossomed romance in earlier in 2018. Baldwin said, “Justin and I were friends for a long time. We went through a long period of time where we weren’t friends. We didn’t speak for quite some time and there was a lot of weirdness that went on. We’ve moved past that.”

This came at the same time Baldwin attended the Met Gala with Shawn Mendes, who was her rumored boyfriend at the time. Baldwin later confirmed that there was nothing between herself and Mendes, and that they were just friends.

The two are seen dancing and hanging out at popular Miami night club, LIV. The duo had their arms around each other, as seen in the video below.

The two flew from Miami to New York City, and were spotted by paparazzi and fans walking around Brooklyn. Bieber stopped to take pictures with and greet some fans.

Then, on June 16, the two took a walk down by the water in Brooklyn, overlooking the Manhattan skyline. They kissed by the waterside while pedestrians walked by.

Bieber popped the question to Baldwin at a local eatery while in the Bahamas. He confirmed the engagement in an Instagram post on July 9, 2018, that garnered nearly 13 million likes.

“Was gonna wait a while to say anything, but word travels fast, listen plain and simple, Hailey, I am soooo in love with everything about you!” he wrote. “So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindly. I promise to lead our family with honor and integrity, letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make.”

Rumors swirled about trouble in paradise when the newly engaged couple was seen in tears throughout New York City. When TMZ found the pop star leaving Baldwin’s apartment the following night, he didn’t say much, but held up Timothy Keller’s book The Meaning of Marriage. “You got good days and you got bad days. It’s not real if it doesn’t have any bad days,” Bieber said before hopping in a car.

An unnamed source confirmed to People that the two tied the knot at a courthouse in Manhattan, and TMZ also posted a photo of the couple at the marriage licensing bureau in New York a few days before. Though Hailey denied the rumors at the time, they later proved to be true.

In the wake of marriage rumors, Justin and Hailey were being super romantic in London. The crooner was seen singing “Cold Water,” his hit collaboration with Major Lazer and MØ, outside Buckingham Palace, serenading Hailey in the crowd.

Without fully confirming their marriage, the model seemed to strongly hint at it by changing her last name to her husband’s on Instagram.

While Baldwin told Vogue Arabia that the duo didn’t have plans for kids “any time soon,” the couple took to Instagram to introduce the world to their new fur baby, Oscar.

The couple graced the March 2019 cover of Vogue, and the newlyweds talked about the importance of building their relationship.

“I think we can be married and still have fun and enjoy our adolescence,” Bieber said. “That’s something we’re talking about.”

Hailey mentioned that she’s “just fighting to do this the right way, to build a healthy relationship. I want people to know that. We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard. It’s a choice.”

The crooner shocked fans on April Fool’s Day when he posted a photo of an ultrasound, followed by a picture of his wife at a doctor’s appointment, implying that he’s a dad-to-be. Following some intense backlash accusing him of being insensitive toward those who struggle with fertility, Bieber apologized for the gag.

“I truly don’t want anyone to be hurt by a prank.. it’s like when I shoved cake in my little sisters face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried,” he wrote. “You sometimes just don’t know what will hurt someone’s feelings not to compare pregnancy with cake in the face but it’s just to paint the picture of not knowing what will offend. Some might have laughed but some were offended .. I think With pranks u sometimes have to roll that dice.”

Justin and Hailey held their more traditional wedding ceremony in South Carolina on Sept. 30. The duo wed at sunset at Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, S.C. They both shared stunning black-and-white wedding portraits after on their Instagram accounts. See them here and here.

The pair open up about their marriage on Bieber’s Seasons docuseries. The pop star noted that sharing his life with his wife is “rewarding.” The model said Bieber was “always going to hold a special place in my heart.”

The pair attended the Met Gala during the month of their third wedding anniversary. She rocked a black YSL dress, which the singer matched with an all-black suit and white sneakers.

The Rhode founder revealed to the Wall Street Journal her thoughts about having kids. “There’s this thing that happens for women when you get married. Everybody always assumes it’s: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby,” she shared. “Well, what about all the things I want to accomplish in my business?”

The model added that although she once thought she wanted children at a young age, “I’m still super, super young!”

The model revealed that she had been hospitalized, and a blood clot was found her brain. “I was sitting at breakfast with my husband when I started having stroke like symptoms and was taken to the hospital,” she wrote on Instagram. “Although this was definitely one of the scariest moments I’ve ever been through, I’m home now and doing well.”

Bieber revealed in an emotional video the reason why he had had to hit pause on his Justice World Tour: He had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. The pop star shared that some of the effects he was experiencing included “full paralysis” on one side of his face.

The pop star celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary by sharing a photo of the couple snuggling in bed with their pup. “Happy anniversary to my best friend and wifey @haileybieber … thanks for making me better in every way,” he captioned the post.

During her interview on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, the Rhode founder cleared the air on whether she was dating her now hubby while he was still with Selena Gomez.

“A lot of the hate and perpetuation comes from, like, [the idea that] ‘You stole him’. It’s about people knowing the truth because there is a truth,” Hailey said. “When him and I started hooking up, or anything of that sort, he was not in any relationship. It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship. I was raised better than that.”

Following the model’s Call Her Daddy podcast interview, where she insisted she never stole Bieber from Selena Gomez, the former Disney star had a message for fans sending the hateful comments to Hailey.

In a TikTok live clip, Gomez said, “I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting. And it’s not fair because no one ever should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen.”

‘It’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words because that’s exactly what I want. That’s it,” Gomez said while promoting Kind Words Matte lipstick, a new product from her Rare Beauty makeup company. “If you support Rare, I cannot thank you enough but know that you are also representing what it means, and that is words matter. Truly matter.”

Hailey and Selena showed fans a united front when the two women posed together for multiple photos at the Academy of Motion Pictures second annual gala on Oct. 15. The move came after Hailey’s revealing interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, during which she confronted rumors that she “stole” husband Justin Bieber from the Only Murders in the Building star. The “Ice Cream” singer later defended the Rhode beauty founder after Hailey received what Gomez called “vile and disgusting” comments after the Call Her Daddy podcast episode aired.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the model shared that she wanted to have children with her pop-star husband, but was feeling some nerves about bringing a child into the world considering the couple’s fame. “I want kids so bad, but I get scared,” she said. “It’s enough that people say things about my husband or my friends. I can’t imagine having to confront people saying things about a child.” 

“We can only do the best we can to raise them,” she added at the time. “As long as they feel loved and safe.” 

Justin and Hailey announced on May 9 that the couple was expecting their first child together. The two shared their happy news in an Instagram post that included photos and a video of the pair, showing the Rhode founder in a curve-hugging lace dress that put her baby bump on full display.

The Biebers announced the arrival of their first child — a son named Jack Blues — to followers on Aug. 23, 2024. “Welcome Home,” Justin wrote on Instagram at the time, sharing an up-close photo of the baby’s tiny foot.

For a brief moment, fans thought that Justin and Hailey might be headed for a split after noticing that the former had unfollowed his wife on Instagram, but the musician quickly quelled those fears by writing on his Story that it had actually been a hacker who caused the stir.

“SOMEONE WENT ON MY ACCOUNT AND UNFOLLOWED MY WIFE,” he wrote in an Instagrma Story. “S–T IS GETTING SUSS OUT HERE.”
