Some Resident Evil rumors are making the rounds online, which are sure to get fans of the franchise talking and they involve possible a Resident Evil Zero remake and a potential film adaptation.

Known leaker AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem, shared some interesting details suggesting that Capcom and Screen Gems/Constantin Films might be gearing up for a double dose of Resident Evil Zero.

It’s being claimed that Screen Gems/Constantin Films might be obligated to release a new Resident Evil movie every five years to maintain their film rights.

The most recent adaptation, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021), fell short of expectations at the box office. So, the next movie would need to hit theaters by 2026.

According to the rumor, the new film could center on Resident Evil Zero’s story, focusing on Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen as they uncover the origins of the T-Virus.

If true, the adaptation may have an exciting name attached. Barbarian director Zach Cregger is rumored to helm the project, bringing his twisted flair for tension to the survival horror franchise.

It’s also reported that Capcom might remake Resident Evil Zero for the upcoming successor to the Nintendo Switch, rumored for release next year. Capcom could seek an exclusivity deal with Nintendo.

The remake would align with earlier rumors suggesting Resident Evil Zero as one of Capcom’s ongoing projects, joining the lineup of modernized entries in the franchise.

It’s explained that both the film and the game remake could serve as a celebration of Resident Evil’s 30th anniversary. By revisiting the franchise’s origin story, Capcom could bridge its roots with its future, including the anticipated release of Resident Evil 9, rumored for 2026.

While this is just a rumor for now, the potential for Resident Evil Zero is sure to get fans excited.
