One of the former members, Dawn Robinson, of the iconic female R&B group En Vogue, recently shared some heartbreaking news with her fans.
In a YouTube video on Wednesday, March 12, the original member of the multi-platinum group revealed that she has been living inside of her car for the last three years due to being homeless.
In the almost 20-minute video, Robinson, 58, says that she was hesitant to share her living situation with her fans, but hoped that her story and circumstance would inspire and encourage those in need or similar situations.

Robinson explained that after stints living with her parents and a hotel, she said that the man who was acting as her co-manager failed to help her secure an apartment. After that series of housing disappointments, Robinson said that she decided to become a member of the #CarLife community.
Despite her situation, she appears to be in good spirits. “Sometimes in life, we end up in situations that we weren’t expecting. There’s something we need to learn or teach, but we’re too afraid to push ourselves out of our comfort zones, so the universe does it for us,” Robinson said.
“I took a risk and jumped head first into car life, and WOW, what a crazy, fun, sometimes scary ride it’s been. For me, failure is NOT an option,” she added.
Robinson said her former mother-in-law, her assistant, and her brother comprise her small circle of support. They encourage her to keep going as she continues on her current journey.
Robinson has quit and returned to En Vogue multiple times throughout the years. Her first departure occurred in 1997, and her last time with the original lineup was in 2010.
Since then, she has formed offshoots of the group with fellow former group member Maxine Jones, however, that came to an end as the four original members were embroiled in various legal battles of the use of the group name.
Robinson was also a cast member on the first season of the TV One reality series,R&B Divas: Los Angeles, which premiered in 2013.
