Parents in Milwaukee are demanding answers after a disturbing incident rocked Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.
A former security coordinator, Fernando Bustos, is now at the center of a criminal case that’s left the community shaken and outraged. According to court documents, Bustos is facing a charge of invade privacy-use surveillance device after a hidden camera was allegedly found inside the girls’ locker room.

Court records reveal that Bustos, who once worked as a Greenfield police officer before resigning in 2020, allegedly recorded over 400 videos using surveillance equipment in the locker room. The case has sparked massive concern among parents, students, and community leaders alike.
Police said they responded to the school on Wednesday, February 19, but what’s wild is — parents didn’t even hear about it from the school. They only found out once FOX6 News started asking questions and digging deeper into the story. That right there is what’s got folks furious — not just the crime, but the lack of transparency.
Former Security Coordinator Pleads Not Guilty
On Thursday, March 13, Fernando Bustos stood in court and pleaded not guilty to the charge. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and the court found probable cause to move forward with the trial. This ain’t just some low-level situation — this man is accused of some deeply invasive and disturbing acts while he was supposed to be protecting students.
Prosecutors allege Bustos was behind hundreds of secret recordings, allegedly taken in a space where students are supposed to feel safe, secure, and respected. The courtroom was tense, and the parents outside were even more fired up. You could feel the anger, fear, and disappointment in the air.
What’s even more unsettling? Some parents feel like the school didn’t act fast enough to inform families or get ahead of the situation. Many are now demanding better safeguards, accountability, and answers as they question how something like this could happen right under everyone’s nose.
School Officials Speak Out After Community Outrage
Following the court hearing, officials from Cristo Rey Jesuit High School released a statement to address the growing backlash from parents and the public:
“Cristo Rey Jesuit High School stands in solidarity with our students and families to see that Fernando Bustos is brought to justice. We are committed to making sure that our school and campus are safe and that our community receives the necessary support and resources as we all navigate this difficult time.”They went on to highlight the school’s mission and impact on the Milwaukee community:
“Over the last 10 years, Cristo Rey Jesuit has transformed the Milwaukee area through the education of our students as they become future leaders in our community. Cristo Rey Jesuit attorneys are working closely with law enforcement officials so that we can focus our energy and efforts on the education and well-being of our students.”
Still, the damage has been done. Parents are questioning what more needs to be done to protect their children from predators — even those who are trusted to guard them. Community members say this situation serves as a wake-up call for all schools to tighten their safety protocols and maintain real transparency when something goes down.
