FX has ordered a pilot for Seven Sisters, led by Elizabeth Olsen. Sean Durkin has been brought in to direct the pilot, written by Will Arbery, Deadline reported. The project is produced by FX Productions, with Arbery, Durkin, and Garrett Basch serving as executive producers.
The plot revolves around a large family that starts to fall apart when one of the sisters, played by Olsen, begins speaking with a voice that no one else can hear. This revelation forces the family to confront long-hidden secrets. If picked up, the series would be Basch and FX’s fifth collaboration, joining his previous projects, such as What We Do in the Shadows, Devs, Reservation Dogs, and an upcoming noir drama featuring Ethan Hawke.
Durkin recently directed The Iron Claw for A24. His upcoming projects include Deep Cuts, featuring Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler. Arbery, known for his work on Succession, co-wrote Sacrifice, a film starring Chris Evans and Anya Taylor-Joy.
Olsen’s recent work includes The Assessment, His Three Daughters for Netflix, and the upcoming A24 romantic comedy Eternity. She is also filming the Warner Bros. thriller Panic Carefully with Julia Roberts, Eddie Redmayne, and Aidan Gillen.
Notably, Olsen and Durkin will reunite with Seven Sisters for the first time since Martha Marcy May Marlene, which marked Durkin’s directorial debut.
The pilot is currently in development, with no additional casting details announced.
