Scarborn Trailer Previews Quentin Tarantino-esque Historical Action Movie

After 22 years, Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) are getting ready to swap bodies — again. Disney released the first official trailer for the long-awaited sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday on when? Friday, of course.

The trailer shows Lohan and Curtis switching personalities — but this time, there’s a multigenerational twist. Now Anna has a daughter (Julia Butters), and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, (Sophia Hammons.) In the new film — which will hit theaters this summer — there’s a four-way body swap when lightning indeed strikes again. (The trailer also saw Chad Michael Murray reprise his role as Jake when he shows up at the end on his motorcycle.)

The official logline reads: “Years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might strike twice.”

Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao are returning from the 2003 movie. Butters, Hammons, Manny Jacinto and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan round out the new castmembers. Nisha Ganatra directs the film.

Curtis and Lohan addressed the crowd at D23 last year to premiere a first look at the sequel and announce the movie title’s name.

Filming then wrapped in August, and in November, Lohan revealed that her character’s fictional band, Pink Slip, is coming back to perform new music.

Freaky Friday was a remake of the 1976 classic of the same title, which starred Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris. The 2003 film was a hit at the box office and among audiences, as it currently sits at an 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Freakier Friday will release on Aug. 8 and marks Lohan’s big return to theaters.
