Phoebe Dynevor is set to star opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in a new supernatural romantic thriller from M. Night Shyamalan and bestselling author Nicholas Sparks.
The project is unique in that it’s not just a film, it’s also a novel. Shyamalan and Sparks are independently developing a screenplay and a book based on the same original concept, exploring the same characters but shaping them for their respective mediums.
Shyamalan will direct the film, which is being produced through his Blinding Edge Pictures, alongside Ashwin Rajan, Sparks’ longtime collaborator Theresa Park, and Marc Bienstock.
Sparks himself is also attached as an executive producer. Discussions are currently underway with Warner Bros. for a theatrical release.
Dynevor, best known for her breakout role in Bridgerton and her critically acclaimed performance in Fair Play, continues to stack up high-profile projects.
She’ll next be seen in the thriller Beneath the Storm, due out later this year, and has just wrapped production on A24’s dark comedy Famous, where she stars alongside Zac Efron.
With Shyamalan’s signature twist-driven storytelling and Sparks’ knack for emotional, heartfelt stories, this project is shaping up to be something… interesting.
