A lot of musicians in our world still had an active music career when they died. No one in attendance at their final concerts could have predicted that it would be the last time the rocker would take the stage.
Chris Cornell died very unexpectedly while Soundgarden were on tour, and they had other shows planned as well as an album in the works. The same was true for Dimebag Darrell, who was murdered during a concert with Damageplan.

Those are two instances where a musician’s death was very shocking. Others, such as Alice in Chains’ Layne Staley and Eddie Van Halen, had been mostly out of the public eye prior to their death. Thus, it had been a few years since either rockers played shows with their respective bands.
