A rifle-toting Leonardo DiCaprio sees his family go guns blazing in the first footage from Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another.
With the first official trailer due out next week, the short 21-second teaser features a chill DiCaprio sipping a drink when he’s suddenly jolted by his pregnant wife, played by Teyana Taylor, firing off her automatic rifle into a distant rural setting. The gunfire continues in the background as another scene signals the arrival of their newborn child in a crib, with a voice-over asking, “What are you gonna do about this baby?”
The teaser in another key scene features the child, now a young woman played by Chase Infiniti, aggressively firing off her own automatic rifle in what has become a family tradition. “Just when you think you got a handle on things,” a narrator intones as the teaser finally reveals the title for Anderson’s latest movie pushed from an earlier Aug. 8, 2025 release date to a Sept. 26, 2025 theatrical rollout.
The new rollout will allow Anderson’s movie to have a global release in Imax theaters and give Warner Bros. time to install projections systems so the film can be seen in VistaVision. One Battle After Another, which also stars Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Alana Haim and Benicio del Toro, is said to be a riff on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel Vineland, even as the storyline has been long kept under wraps.
Anderson wrote the script and will produce with Sara Murphy and Adam Somner, both of whom worked with the filmmaker on Licorice Pizza. The project, which was shot in California and secondarily in Texas, is set up at Warner Bros, headed by Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, who worked with Anderson on the 2021 Oscar-nominated film during their tenure running MGM.
