Teresa Giudice‘s husband, Luis Ruelas, has been reportedly hit with a $2.5 million tax lien.
Months after the company he co-founded filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and under a year after they were accused of owing a party planner over $300,000, the 50-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey star, who married Teresa, 52, in August 2022, appears to be in hot water with the government.
On March 20, Reality Tea reported the lien was filed with the New Jersey Judiciary as the Pink Pop Box podcast on Instagram shared details about the two separate cases between Luis and the Division of Taxation.
“On December 12th, 2024, there was a tax lien placed on Louie to the tune of 163,523.94. I’m not sure what the result of that was or if they have Incorporated this judgment into what just happened on 03/06/2025, but the number has changed dramatically to $2,569,842.06 … and some change,” the podcast host wrote in the caption of a screenshot of Luis’ cases.
According to the report, Luis doesn’t have much time to pay — and Teresa and their home could be in jeopardy if he doesn’t.
“If the tax lien is not paid[,] the state of New Jersey in conjunction with the IRS can literally come in and start seizing assets. We’re talking home, precious belongings, cars, and marital property,” the podcaster continued. “If he’s got the money to cough up, he better do it. Because pretty soon he could be without a home, and if he’s without a home, Teresa could be without a home.”
In the screenshot of the reported judgments against Luis, one was listed for $163,523.94, and a second was shared for $2,569,842.06. They were listed as “open” on December 12, 2024, and March 6, 2025, respectively.
Just last month, while appearing on the Undressed With Pol’ and Patrik podcast, Teresa, who opted against signing a prenup with Luis, addressed their finances, saying, “You need someone that looks over everything.”
Then, after admitting she did not meet with Luis’ accountant or look at his financial records before they wed, she described her spouse as “anal” about money.
“He does everything right, which I love that. He made me talk to his financial advisor,” she revealed.
But just last year, amid claims that Teresa owed the IRS over $600,000, Luis took out a $1 million loan to help pay off the mortgage on their $3.4 million home.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently on pause.
