Teresa Giudice has been hit with a tax lien following the reveal of her husband Luis Ruelas‘ own tax debt.
Just days after it was reported that Luis, 50, owed over $2.5 million in back taxes, fans are learning that a judgment was filed against the 52-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member on March 20 in a case deemed “Division of Taxation vs Teresa Giudice.”
In a screenshot from the New Jersey Courts’ website, it is stated that the judgment against Teresa was made in the amount of $303,889.20 in Mercer County, New Jersey.
As RHONJ fans may recall, Teresa also made headlines for her past-due taxes in October 2023. At the time, after facing a balance of $1,096,012.14, it was reported that she had made a $480,291.20 payment to the state of New Jersey but still owed $615,720.94.
A short time later, Luis reportedly took out a $1 million loan to pay off the $3.4 million mansion he and Teresa purchased in 2021.
Meanwhile, last September, months after a live-streaming platform called Vinivia, Digital Media Solutions Inc. (DMS), which Luis was involved in founding, was accused of stiffing a party planner over $300,000 for its launch party, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Just weeks ago, on the Undressed With Pol’ and Patrik podcast, Teresa spoke of her financial situation with Luis, admitting that she didn’t do any digging into Luis’ income or debt before they tied the knot in August 2022.
“In a marriage, or in a partnership, you need someone that looks over everything,” Teresa explained. “Luis, you can tell he’s very anal. He does everything right, which I love that.”
As fans may also recall, Teresa opted against signing a prenup with Luis since there was “true love” between them.
“No. I mean, I would if he said so. I’m so very easy about that. He definitely has more than me,” Teresa alleged. “I would never take anything from him, I’m so not like that.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently on pause ahead of its 15th season.
