Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Director Says These Movies Aren’t ‘For Critics’

Elizabeth Olsen is once again talking about her experiences making Marvel movies, and in a recent interview with The Playlist, she opened up about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reshoots, and the intriguing idea she pitched to Marvel for Scarlet Witch’s return.

Reshoots are nothing new for Marvel films, but director Sam Raimi and writer Michael Waldron hadn’t seen WandaVision when developing the film, leading to a version of Wanda Maximoff that caught many fans off guard.

Olsen, however, clarified that she wasn’t actually involved in the reshoots.

“I actually wasn’t a part of the reshoots. I was filming [HBO’s limited series] Love and Death. So, what I did is what stayed. I think that there were a lot of reshoots, but not really pertaining to what I did.”

Despite the drastic turn her character took as she went full-blown villain and seemingly meeting her end beneath Mount Wundagore, Olsen embraced the shift.

“It was an interesting turn, but one that I was excited to take and really kind of relish in it instead of tiptoe into it,” she explained. “I thought it was kind of something delicious. I thought it was a fun opportunity.”

Past reports have suggested that the bulk of the reshoots focused on reworking the Illuminati’s lineup and tweaking the film’s opening, which initially included a brutal scene where Wanda beheaded Earth-616’s Karl Mordo. That sequence ultimately didn’t make the final cut.

With Scarlet Witch’s fate left ambiguous, speculation about her MCU future has been running wild. Many expect her to return in Avengers: Doomsday, possibly aligned with Robert Downey Jr.’s rumored Doctor Doom. But Olsen has her own vision for Wanda’s next chapter.

She shared: “You know, when I think about my dream version [of Wanda], it’s like 50 years later, and I have white hair—such a big, massive white wig—and gnarly face of wrinkles doing like a Tracy Ullman thing. And I am just like a creature that they find. And that’s how I imagine Wanda’s next journey.”

This is actually a concept that she pitched to Marvel, saying: “It’s something I have quite literally pitched because it would be so fun to get to do that to me. I mean, I guess in one of the comics, she ages quite quickly, and I think those are the images that are implanted in my brain next because I haven’t done it.”

When asked if she’s had any discussions with the Russo Brothers about her future in the MCU, she played it coy, simply saying, “Yeah.”

I actually love that pitch and it would be an interesting way to continue her story. I doubt it’ll go down that way, though.

Beyond the Avengers sequels, rumors persist that Wanda could be the focus of her own solo film, potentially adapting The Children’s Crusade storyline. That would place her at the center of a story involving the Young Avengers, which Marvel has been subtly setting up for years.

We’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel’s plans for Scarlet Witch are. She’s got an interesting story arc that can go in so many different directions. What do you think about her pitch?
