Parker Turns 60 With A Career As Timeless As Her Style

Known for her signature role as the ever-stylish Carrie Bradshaw, Parker has remained a pop culture staple since “Sex and the City” first hit HBO screens in 1998. But long before she became a New York fashionista with a laptop and an enviable shoe collection, Parker had already established herself as a stage and screen talent.
The Ohio-born star began acting at the age of 11, appearing in the play “The Innocents” in 1976. By 1979, she had landed the lead role in the Broadway production of “Annie,” marking her as a child star on the rise.

Her most recent revival was her role in “Hocus Pocus 2,” which came out in 2022.
“The most important thing was trying to figure out a story that everybody was excited about and that was familiar enough in tone to make sense, nod to the past, and pay tribute to a [the first film’s] whimsy, ridiculousness, evilness, and wickedness,” she told EW of the sequel. “The script was the hardest part.”
Kathy Najimy chimed in, “They sent us story ideas, then Sarah, Bette, and I would have phone meetings with lots of snacks, and we’d talk over narratives and character arcs. We were able to give them our two cents, and what the writer and studio came up with was difficult, because you can’t take something that was so successful and stray too far from it.”
She continued, “The first one had something delicious about it, but you also want to make something new. With a little bit of our input, the writer’s input, and Disney’s, we came up with something that’s current and fun.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Says She Doesn’t Limit What Her Kids Eat

In a candid conversation on an episode of “Ruthie’s Table 4,” hosted by acclaimed River Café chef Ruthie Rogers, the then 59-year-old actress opened up about why she doesn’t restrict her children’s diets, despite growing up in a household where sugar was off-limits.
“When I was growing up, we weren’t allowed sugar in the house, and we weren’t allowed cookies, and we weren’t allowed chocolate,” Parker recalled at the time. “And of course, all we did, the minute we moved out, was buy Entenmann’s cakes and cookies.”
Now a mom of three, Parker explained how her own childhood experience influenced the kind of food culture she wanted to create in her own home.
“So in our house, we have cookies, we have cake. We have everything,” she shared. “And I think as a result, you kind of have a healthier relationship.”
