Morgan Wallen allegedly declined to be in a musical sketch during this recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.
Variety reported on Tuesday, April 1, that Wallen, 31, turned down the chance to be in the “Big Dumb Line” skit with host Mikey Madison, Chloe Fineman and Bowen Yang. A part was written for Wallen to sing the bridge of the Euro pop tune, per the outlet.
Wallen did not appear in the sketch and the role ended up being played by Joe Jonas.

Wallen appeared as the musical guest on the Saturday, March 29, episode of the sketch comedy show. He performed two songs — “I’m the Problem” and “Just in Case” — from his upcoming album, set to be released on May 16.
However, the country singer made headlines for his abrupt exit during the live show’s curtain call. Wallen stood beside Madison, 26, as she closed the show.
“Thanks to Morgan Wallen, I had a wonderful time! Thank you all,” the Anora star told the crowd.

Wallen saluted and seemingly whispered something in Madison’s ear. He then walked off the stage in front of the camera as the final credits rolled. At the end of most episodes, the SNL hosts and musical guests remain on stage to hug and chat with the cast.
Following his SNL appearance, Wallen took to social media to share a photo of a private plane captioning the snap, “Get me to God’s country.”
The following day, SNL writer Josh Patten seemingly poked fun at the situation on his social media. Patten posted a photo of a Krispy Kreme box truck in New York City alongside a caption that read, “Get me to God’s country,” referring to Wallen’s social media post from the night before.

While some thought Patten’s post was a diss at Wallen, he uploaded a screenshot of his 2023 Apple Music Replay which featured four Wallen songs in the top five spots on the playlist. In a subsequent Instagram Story, he added an emoji rolling its eyes alongside a comment that read, “Guessing Patten’s not a Morgan Wallen fan?”
Wallen and SNL have not had the best history over the years. In 2020, the musician was disinvited from the show after video footage of Wallen partying at the University of Alabama during the COVID-19 pandemic went viral. Months later, Wallen was reinvited to SNL. Not only did he perform, but he appeared in a sketch poking fun at his scandal.
