Tay-K’s ex-girlfriend testified today during day five of the rapper’s capital murder trial that she witnessed him shoot the victim in 2017.
Tay-K Murder Trial Continues
On Monday (April 7), Tay-K’s second murder trial continued in Bexar County Court in Texas with testimony from Joanna Reyes, who was dating the Texas rapper during the time of the incident. She testified that she saw Tay-K shoot and kill Mark Anthony Saldivar on April 23, 2017. Reyes was driving the SUV when Tay-K and three other men including Jaylen Bell attempted to rob Saldivar of camera equipment in the backseat.
“Taymor pulled out his gun and pointed it at Mark and asked for his bag,” Reyes told the jury around the 33:50 mark of the video below. “Mark refused to give him the bag and they all started hitting him. Taymore was hitting him with the gun.”
After assaulting Saldivar, the men attempted to push him out of the vehicle, after which Saldivar jumped on the hood. Reyes told the jury that Tay-K leaned out of the car and shot Saldivar after she swerved to try and get him off of the car. Afterward, they pulled into the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant.
“They were going through [the victim’s] backpack and his wallet,” Reyes said. “They had got upset because it was only $10…They were kinda going back-and-forth. Then Jaylen applauded [Tay-K] and gave him a high-five. They high-fived each other. And Jaylen said, ‘You caught your first body.'”
Reyes has pleaded guilty to witness tampering and will receive a deferred sentence in exchange for her testimony.
Tay-K allegedly committed the murder while he was on the run from police for the 2016 murder and robbery of Ethan Walker. Tay-K, who is already serving 55 years in prison for Walker’s murder, is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole if found guilty in his current case.
