Welp, She In The Slammer: New York Woman Arrested For Punching Pro-Life Reporter In Harlem
RELATED:OMG: Reporter Gets Sucker Punched During Street Interview on Abortion
Welp, the woman who socked a reporter square in the face following a heated interview about abortion, has landed herself in the slammer.
New York police arrested 30-year-old Brianna J. Rivers this Thursday on one count of second-degree assault after she sucker-punched pro-life activist Savannah Craven Antao during a street interview last week.
Cheerful about the update, Craven Antao also posted on her Instagram, “Just got word from detectives Brianna J Rivers was arrested! God is good!”
How The Heated Harlem Interview Spiraled Out Of Control
As we previously reported, Craven Antao asked Rivers questions about abortion on behalf of the pro-life organization Live Action.
While Rivers tried to tell her, “You don’t understand the magnitude of having a child,” Antao replied with a triggering response, “I’m not the one who admitted they would be OK with killing babies in foster care and killing children that had been abused.”
Frustrated that Antao was moving the goalposts, Rivers replied, “That’s not the point.”
Before finishing her thought, that’s when she ended up socking Craven Antao in the face twice — sending her off-camera, bloodied and in disbelief.
Rivers Defends Herself After Arrest, Says She Was Provoked
Rivers, for her part, believes she was provoked by Craven Antao.
“To Savannah, I sincerely apologize, but cannot sit around and allow you to continue pushing this one-sided narrative. I understand hands being put on someone is never the answer, but throwing rocks and hiding hands is worse,” Rivers wrote on Facebook.
“She knows the truth and she needs to release the footage in its entirety. Savannah is a professional antagonist not a ‘reporter’ and the truth will be told,” she added.
GoFundMe Set Up To Help With Legal Fees
Since the incident went viral, Rivers has created a GoFundMe page where she is looking for donations to help hire a defense attorney. As of this writing, the page had raised over $8,695.

Conclusion
This situation has social media in a frenzy and highlights just how heated the abortion debate can get in the streets of Harlem. While Brianna J. Rivers now faces legal trouble, many online are still debating whether her actions were justified or completely out of pocket.
Only time will tell how this case will play out in court. But one thing’s for sure — the streets of New York never stay quiet for long.
