Selling Sunset’s Nicole Young is the first to admit that when it comes to season 9 of the hit Netflix series, she has no idea what to expect.
“I just don’t know when it’s coming,” Nicole, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly while attending Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s Camp Poosh event, featuring Hint Water, on Saturday, April 12.
“I don’t know what we’re gonna get,” she continued. “I will say, it’s gonna be messy.”
While there’s not much Nicole can tell Us about the highly anticipated new season, she is teasing a possible reason for season 9’s messiness — an “awful” scene with costar and bitter rival Chrishell Stause.
“I mean, I guess the first scene we had together was pretty, absolutely awful,” Nicole revealed, referring to what Chrishell previously told Us was an “explosive” return to the show. “I don’t see [Chrishell] much, which is really a nice, positive thing.”
Nicole and Chrishell’s seasons-long feud started in season 6, fueled by Young’s alleged jealousy over her real estate listings, issues with Chrishell’s qualifications (or lack thereof) and accusations that Chrishell was receiving preferential treatment due to her relationship with their Oppenheim Group co-owner and boss, Jason Oppenheim.
Chrishell went on to accuse Nicole of taking drugs — an accusation Nicole vehemently denied, going so far as to take a drug test. The drama hit a fever pitch in season 8, when Nicole spread a rumor that Chrishell’s friend, Emma Hernan, was allegedly sleeping with a married man. In response, Chrishell made it clear that she would not film with Nicole.
As a result, filming for Nicole was paused, fueling speculation that she would not return to the series.
“I had a call with production two days ago during which they told me I have absolutely not been fired from the cast but they chose to pause my filming schedule until next week in order to protect me from situations on set that had become very contentious,” Nicole told Us in a statement in January 2025. “I’m still debating whether or not I want to continue filming in this kind of environment, especially with so many infuriating double standards.”

Young assures Us and worried fans alike that she will absolutely be featured in Season 9 — even if she won’t share the screen with Chrishell frequently — telling Us “you will see me.”
“I don’t know how many episodes,” she explained. “I don’t have any deciding factor over that, but yeah, I’m absolutely in 9.”
Netflix renewed Selling Sunset for season 9, but filming was paused due to the devastating wildfires that destroyed parts of the greater Los Angeles area in January. Currently, there is no scheduled release date.
One reason for Nicole’s return to the show despite all the on- and off-camera drama? Her love of real estate.
“Honestly, my clients are the best part of the job,” Nicole told Us. “Seeing them so happy and just being able to take care of them. So many of my clients have become really close friends of mine that I otherwise would have never met in any other cast of my life. It’s the people and relationships for sure.”
