Sheryl Lee Ralph hasn’t exactly had an easy week after sharing on ‘Good Morning America’ that she was recently involved in a car crash that left her with a SLING on her arm. The ‘Abbott Elementary’ star shared how her SUV took a direct NOSEDIVE off a convention center loading dock. Despite the accident, however, Ralph powered through the speaking gig and several other interviews she had scheduled for the week like a true boss. And she’ll want to heal up QUICK as her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is right around the corner.

Ralph Explained How The Accident Happened

The actress appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ on Thursday (April 10), where she was quizzed about her arm. It was hard not to notice the sling as Ralph wore a light blue dress, which was quite a color contrast to the cast.

When news anchor George Stephanopoulos spotted the cravat bandage and asked her what had happened, Sheryl looked disappointed but didn’t hold back. She said she was riding as a passenger in an SUV, heading to a speaking event, when the driver got all confused and sent the car straight off the convention center’s loading dock. “We literally nosedived,” she recalled. “Feeling yourself going straight down? Craziest thing ever.”

Our Emmy-winning auntie admitted that the whole thing left her feeling scared, but she gave major props to the car for keeping her safe despite the driver’s mishap. “That car hit the ground, kept moving, righted itself, and saved my life,” she added.

Ralph said the whole thing reminded her that life’s too short.

“Every day, appreciate the people and things around you,” she preached.

She Was Determined To Keep Working

A day prior, during her appearance on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ on Wednesday, April 9, she first spoke of the incident. Ralph revealed that the crash actually went down on Monday, April 7. But did that stop her from continuing her work schedule? Nope. The actress, who’s 68 and THRIVING, still hit her speaking engagement, though her adrenaline was on 10.

“‘Move forward, move forward,’” she recalled telling herself.

That night, she even scooped an award from NYC’s MCC Theater. But the Connecticut native joked that it wasn’t long before the pain hit like she’d gone rounds with Muhammad Ali. “Terrible,” she continued, while still managing to crack jokes with Stephen Colbert, saying, “This sling’s all I got, not a coffin!”

Sheryl Lee Ralph Is Getting Her Star On Hollywood’s Walk Of Fame

During the interview, she also opened up about her excitement about getting her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ralph’s long-overdue recognition on the iconic strip, honoring both her career in TV and Film (IKTR!), will take place on Wednesday, April 16.

“Stephen, for me, having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it’s really not so much for me but for all the other artists and really people out there on the grind who think that they are unseen, think that it can’t happen for them,” she expressed. “It can actually happen for you!”

According to the event’s press release, Lee will be receiving the 2,808th star on 6623 Hollywood Boulevard,
