Meghan Markle Reportedly Hopes For Gwyneth Paltrow’s Friendship

Meghan Markle has been uplifted by Gwyneth Paltrow’s positive comments amidst harsh criticism of her show. The Netflix star hopes to collaborate or connect with the actress soon, following her feedback about her new show.

Last month, Meghan Markle premiered her new lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan” on Netflix, adding another visual adventure to her contract with the streaming giant.

Gwyneth’s recent kind words about Meghan’s latest venture offer a rare moment of positivity that Meghan is reportedly overjoyed about.

According to a source, this support comes when Meghan has faced significant criticism, particularly following the low ratings of her lifestyle show, which features cooking and gardening tips.

The encouragement from someone she admires, like Gwyneth, has uplifted Meghan’s spirits. She is eager to connect personally with Gwyneth and is considering inviting her onto her podcast, “Confessions of a Female Founder,” which focuses on women entrepreneurs.

Even if a podcast collaboration does not materialize, Meghan hopes to arrange a casual meeting with Gwyneth. The source confirmed to In Touch that gaining Gwyneth’s approval could be immensely beneficial for Meghan, who would love to explore potential collaborations in the future. 

In the April 2025 issue of Vanity Fair, Gwyneth shared her interest in connecting with both Meghan and Prince Harry, as they all reside in Montecito, California.

She mentioned having met Meghan in the past, describing her as “really lovely,” but acknowledged that they do not know each other well.

Gwyneth humorously suggested she might try to bypass their security to bring them a pie. Drawing attention to Meghan’s criticism, Gwyneth emphasized her instinct to support women scrutinized in the public eye.

She recalled a lesson from her mother, actress Blythe Danner, who advised her that “another woman is never your competition.” Gwyneth reinforced her belief in viewing other women as allies rather than rivals, stating, “I think there’s always more than enough to go around.”

As shared by The Blast, Gwyneth also registered her support for Meghan, embarking on multiple ventures, including her new brand, As Ever. 

The actress’s upcoming lifestyle brand is set to specialize in home decor and kitchen essentials. It will offer a range of products that includes decanters, cutlery, napkin rings, table linens, and cookbooks.

In addition to these items, she also plans to introduce a selection of healthy edible products, some of which she has already shared and gifted to friends in the celebrity world.

The actress emphasized that women should be encouraged to pursue their ambitions, stating, “Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”

While she praised Meghan’s entrepreneurial spirit, she did mention that she had not yet seen the trailer for Meghan’s Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan.”

Princess Diana’s former biographer, Tina Brown, joined the sea of critiques when she delivered a critical review of Meghan’s Netflix series. Brown argued that the show highlights the Duchess of Sussex’s tendency to make terrible choices and critical errors in her choices.

The former biographer expressed this in her Substack newsletter, “Fresh Hell,” declaring that the TV star lacks a coordinated image or persona. Brown’s conclusion undermined Meghan’s plans of being her true self, and down-to-earth in the series. 

The former Vanity Fair editor also identified Meghan’s struggles in establishing her lifestyle brand, focusing on her failure to secure the American Riviera Orchard trademark.

Brown proposed that the actress, in her pursuit of success, may have found greater benefits in dedicating her efforts to a project that showcases her struggles from the past five years.

Thomas Markle Jr., the older half-brother of the TV star, criticized her for her comments about her childhood on the show. In an interview, he accused her of exaggerating her experiences to appear relatable.

Meghan had described herself as a “latchkey kid” who often relied on fast food from chains like El Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, and Jack in the Box, and she reminisced about the $4.99 salad bar at Sizzler, a point she made in 2021.

However, Thomas Jr. dismissed her claims as fabricated stories aimed at winning sympathy from the royal family, emphasizing that their family was not poor. He insisted that Meghan did not face financial struggles, contradicting her portrayal of their upbringing.
