At only 14 years old, Lil Wayne’s son Neal Carter, a.k.a. Lil Novi, is already stuntin’ like his daddy. The youngest of Tunechi’s four kids has embarked on a budding rap career and is attempting to follow in his father’s G.O.A.T.-shaped footsteps.
Novi, whose mother is R&B singer Nivea, began seriously pushing his music in 2024, around the same age his father began rapping in the mid-1990s. The influence of his dad is uncanny, with Novi’s style sounding like a mix of Tunechi and Playboi Carti.
The younger Carter is definitely serious about his rap career. He quietly has two projects under his belt. Bat Kave, released last October, and B4 the Albvm, which dropped the following month, prove he is on his grind. In January, he released the solo single “Take a Step,” which features Lil Wayne in the music video.
Wayne is fully supportive of Novi’s career. Along with providing guidance, Weezy also lets Novi grow into his artistry without pressure.
“He’ll give me advice and stuff,” Nov said in an Off The Porch interview in March. “He’ll tell me what to do in the studio and how to get better. I’ll send him my songs so he can hear it. He mess with all of my songs.”
Novi recently had a viral moment when he rapped over Weezy’s classic track “A Milli” in an homage to his famous pops, two days before the 17th anniversary of the song, which is today (April 23).
“A million there, a million here/Racks keep on growing longer than my hair,” he raps. “Keep some bad b**ches in a pair/Dark skin over there/Light skin over there/Look at my diamonds, you go blind/Look at your diamonds, crystal clear.”
Like father, like son.
