Shudder has released the first official The Surrender trailer for the upcoming supernatural horror led by The Boys star Colby Minifie, which serves as her first leading movie role. It is currently slated to begin streaming on Friday, May 23 on Shudder.
“A fraught mother-daughter relationship is put to a terrifying test when the family patriarch dies, and the grieving mother hires a mysterious stranger to bring her husband back from the dead. As the bizarre and brutal resurrection spirals out of control, both women must confront their differences as they fight for their lives — and for each other,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in The Surrender trailer?
The video introduces Minifie as a grieving daughter who’s helping her estranged mother resurrect her father through a dangerous ritual. It highlights some of the movie’s terrifying sequences after the ritual goes horribly wrong for the both characters. In addition to Minifie, the cast also includes Kate Burton, Neil Sandilands, Vaughn Armstrong, Mia Ellis, Pete Ploszek, Chelsea Alden, Alaina Pollack, Riley Rose Critchlow, and Lola Prince Kelly.
The Surrender is written and directed by Julia Max. The story is loosely inspired by what she and her mother went through when her stepfather died. The horror thriller is produced by Max, Mia Chang, Lovell Holder, Robert J. Ulrich, and Ian McDonald, with Susan Gelb, Adam Maffei, and Rob Massar serving as executive producers. The creative team also includes director of photography Cailin Yatsko, editor Sushila Love, and composer Alex Winkler.
