Scheana Shay on Real Reason Behind Rift With Lisa Vanderpump

Scheana Shay reacted to Lisa Vanderpump‘s latest comments about her on Friday’s episode of her podcast.

After the 64-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum accused Scheana, 40, of using her name to sell copies of her new book, My Good Side: A Memoir, and suggested she was ungrateful for the opportunities she’d been given because of her, Scheana addressed her comments, explained why Jax Taylor, 45, Jesse Lally, 44, and Tom Sandoval, 42, weren’t invited to her 40th birthday, and suggested Lisa shouldn’t be credited for the success of Vanderpump Rules.

“When I saw the Watch What Happens Live clip … it was a little hurtful. It’s like now I’m just one of 700 employees? I used to be your go-to girl,” Scheana began on the May 16 episode of Scheananigans.

According to Scheana, it was Kristen Doute‘s claim that she was “gonna spill” tea about Lisa in her book, which she made on the B*tch Bible podcast, that caused drama between her and Lisa. However, what she told Kristen, 42, was that she would be sharing things she “never felt comfortable talking about.”

“I’ve always been very loyal to Lisa. I was her right-hand for a long time, and there were a lot of situations that I’ve been put in, phone calls that were made, and things that just kind of shaped a big part of my life that I do discuss in the book,” Scheana clarified. “Is she gonna be happy with everything I say in the book? Probably not. But it’s my truth … [And] I’m not trying to paint anyone in a negative light.”

While Scheana initially planned to wait until Pump Rules ended to write her book, she ultimately decided to get started before learning that she and her castmates had been fired.

“We [were] all kicked to the curb and rebooted, so I am going to talk about my experiences because there are a lot of things that people don’t know or people assume. So it’s not necessarily tea I’m spilling about Lisa. It’s tea I’m spilling about myself. This book is my memoir, and she was a huge part of my life for the last 15, 16 years,” Scheana continued. 

As for what caused friction between them, Scheana said she was disappointed when Lisa failed to reach out after her miscarriage.

“Everyone else, even other former bosses and people, sent me flowers, phone calls, text messages, and I didn’t hear from her at all, and that just really broke my heart,” she admitted. “It was heartbreaking to not [hear from her]. So I was like, ‘You know what? I’ve been your loyal server for so many years, and I guess we’re just not that close anymore.’”

Looking back at her recent milestone birthday, Scheana explained that she didn’t want certain men at her party.

“I specifically did not invite certain problematic men who are in our friend group because I didn’t want my friends to be uncomfortable with them there. I’m not going to invite Jax or Jesse. I’m not going to invite Tom Sandoval,” she stated. “Did I get a snarky belated birthday text, ‘Thanks for the invite,’ [from Tom Sandoval]? Of course. I just didn’t respond. And I’m like, ‘Dude, come on, first of all, I invited [Ariana Madix].’ But still, I’m not inviting any of these dudes … I can’t have you here.”

As for the many comments telling her that she should not “bite the hand that feeds [her],” in regard to Lisa, Scheana said it was Bravo, not Lisa, that provided her with the opportunity to appear on Pump Rules.

“I started the show from [RHOBH] from a scandal I was involved in, and people were invested in watching the show for the six of us. No offense to Lisa, but I think very few viewers were tuning in to see Lisa’s life because she’s not sharing a bunch of her life on the show. It was about us,” Scheana reasoned. “And because of the success, 11 seasons, two Emmy nominations, she’s been able to expand her empire.”

“Vanderpump Villa would’ve never happened if Vanderpump Rules wasn’t successful. Overserved, Vanderpump Dogs, all the things didn’t really hit, but she had all these opportunities because of a show that we helped make. So it’s like, I don’t feel like I owe Lisa anything. I think I owe Bravo a lot. Thank you, Bravo, for all these amazing opportunities,” she concluded.
